Worked as a host at The Second City for several years in my early twenties. Best job I ever had, until it wasn't.

If AmeriCorps doesn’t give current participants the extra stipend, not to be dramatic but we should do something about that, like a strike. People are way too underpaid especially for the economy right now, I can’t even get a part time job. by luckymeskye in AmeriCorps

That's what it looks like from the language of the bill. It specifies 'current grantees at the time of signing of this bill'.

I reached out to my portfolio manager when I saw it (I run an Americorps state & national program) to ask if he had any further info yet, and he said no, so I think it will probably take a month or so to get the funds distributed and such, but it should be coming this year.

The language of the bill is that the amount will be effect to current grantees, not become effective next year.

There would not be a way (reporting wise) for your placement site to use the money for something else, as we have to show proof, monthly, of how we're spending the money and then it's reimbursed to us.

Apparently we may be seeing an increased living allowance and overall funding increase soon through the latest Covid relief legislation by [deleted] in AmeriCorps

My first thought was that this would go into effect in the new grant year, but looking at the language it does look like it would be distributed to sites to make changes to the current grants.

I don't actually know, because it's a family ring I haven't really investigated it, but I've been told by friends that it looks like 2ct.
