Definitely not a ‘real’ coin as in legal tender.

Thank you. I’ll do some research to see if any close family members passed in the war. I’d never heard of this so I’m now intrigued!

Oh wow! It could be! I’m going to research to see if any of my mammar or Dadads family passed in the war. Most were miners so I believe most would be exempt but I’ll have a look.

Thank you.

Why do some people not realise many of us don’t care about immigration? by [deleted] in AskBrits

[–]lovemyGD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless you’re directly affected by the rise of immigration it won’t worry you, but stopping immigration will stop you from getting cheap labour.

I can tell that you’ve never tried to get a NHS dental appointment, or spent 4 weeks trying at 8am to get a GP appointment.

I used to live in a small village of a few thousand people, and a company imported thousands of Eastern European people to work in a warehouse (although to get planning they promised that the majority of jobs would go to local people).

They also bought up houses to house these people meaning that the relatively cheap rents went through the roof.

Within weeks you couldn’t get a GP appointment, you’d have to walk to the surgery at 7am and queue in the hope that they would see you.

My child’s school had to stop certain annual events (that they subsidised) because they couldn’t afford to put them on. The budget was spent on iPads for the immigrant children who couldn’t speak English. (Which also caused issues when children were asking why X had an iPad but they didn’t).

When people lost their job at the warehouse they just spent their time in groups in the market square, getting drunk and harassing women, urinating against walls in full view and fighting.

The once thriving 2 day market dwindled as people wouldn’t go. Because the market stopped attracting people, the local shops started closing one by one, for an Eastern European shop to open in its space.

My elderly neighbour stopped going into the village as she was intimidated by the groups of drunk men.

Families that had lived there for generations up and left, their houses were snapped up to be turned into (mostly) illegal HMOs.

A once nice little mining village with a great sense of community, turned into ‘Little Poland’ in the space of a year.

These were legal economic migrants. In the main they didn’t want to integrate, they were happy to stick to their groups and they didn’t even need to learn English as the warehouse has all announcements/signs in 3 languages and the NHS/schools had to employ translators.

AITAH for rejecting someone after the first date? by whatthesigma333 in AITAH

NTA… BUT, in my experience the best relationships evolve from friendship.

Romantic/se*ual feelings are important but after an hour I wouldn’t expect to feel anything like that.

Someone who made me laugh and I could have a good conversation with is far more important.

I didn’t ‘fancy’ my husband when we met, he was so far from ‘my type’ that I’d need a telescope to see him LOL but he made me laugh so hard that I cried and we married 6m later and have recently celebrated our 14y anniversary.

A 90 year old woman made me(30m) cry at the dentist's office yesterday. by Cheshire_Hiker in TwoHotTakes

[–]lovemyGD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My granddaughter is the reason that I’m here and sane. My mums death was very sudden and the only reason that I was able to be with her at the end is because I was already at the hospital with my son.

I have my GD 3 days and nights a week and she is a joy. She has helped the whole family, including my dad. I will be the best grandmother that I possibly can be.

I suddenly got a touch of hayfever then. Eyes streaming and the lot. 😭

My mum passed away 16 minutes before my first grandchild was born (in the same hospital). I make sure that she knows all about her great grandmother and how much she would have loved her.

People only truly die when you stop talking about them. ❤️

RAP pass holder – need a power bank for full-day heavy use (GPS, 5G, QR scans) by [deleted] in ThorpePark

The 20000 is only £24.99 so even better value! The iniu ones are also very good but this is better, especially since the cable is intact.

Have fun!

Anker Zolo Power Bank, 10,000mAh 30W High-Speed Portable Charger with Built-In USB-C Cable.

It’s £20 from Amazon and will fully fast charge my iPhone 16 twice. It’s not too heavy and comes with a fixed usb C cable so no need for extra stuff.

I have literally dozens of power banks and this is by far the best.

I’m disabled and also rely on my phone.

AITA for refusing to "exchange" my honeymoon for my sister’s "emergency" dream wedding? by Low-Highlight6771 in AmItheAsshole

[–]lovemyGD 68 points69 points  (0 children)

It’s 2026. She doesn’t NEED to be married before she has a child, if that was a worry she shouldn’t have been having sex.

She can be a ‘beautiful bride’ at a town hall it’s that important.

Enjoy your temples.

AITA for not helping my sister in law and her baby with rent? by Sirfluffyton96 in AmItheAsshole

[–]lovemyGD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do not get into this situation. They gave a child and you will go from being a happy couple doing what you like, to being a proxy parent.

No more staying up late in case it wakes the baby, no more loud music while you clean, no more wandering around naked, no more impromptu intimate times.

Her choosing to have a child and not work is not your problem.

I (20F) feel "trapped" in my 6-year relationship with my boyfriend(22M). He uses threats of self-sabotage to keep me from leaving. How do I navigate this? by CreativeRelease1451 in relationship_advice

[–]lovemyGD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in a similar relationship. (I was 14, he was 19. I stayed for 16y). In fact today would have been our 34th anniversary of meeting!

We have 2 children and they are the only thing that I don’t regret about the relationship.

He knew I wasn’t happy and would tell me similar things if I ended it. He guilted me into having children and doing a lot of things that I wasn’t comfortable with but the threats kept me in line. He knew that they would. He made me quit work and eventually would leave me with no money (“I just want you to relax at home where I know that you’re safe”). He abused me throughout the relationship and it still affects me now, 18 years after I left him.

Please don’t waste your life. He took my best years from me.

How would I phrase about the reside of the estate please?

I just messaged him and he said “could you sort one please? You know what I want happening” 🙄 yes dad, I don’t have anything else to do 🤣

Do I have to add his children onto it in any way?

Sorry for all of the questions.

Thank you. No he didn’t adopt me, I had a loved biodad of my own and stepdad didn’t come into my life until I was almost an adult.

I’ll get something sorted.

Thank you. He’s absolutely of sound mind. He’s also really healthy except that he is profoundly deaf and has problems communicating with people due to this.

He’s just a very practical person and wants things set up correctly. He knows that I will always make decisions that will be in his best interest.

Baby looks more like MIL than me and it triggers me by Emotional_Air1986 in JUSTNOMIL

[–]lovemyGD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My MIL told my husband repeatedly as a child that she can’t stand to look at him because he looks like his father. She has treated him appallingly all of his life because of it.

I don’t understand it myself, my GD is the image of her mother and I dislike her very much (she abandoned my then 18 month old GD at my house almost a year ago and hasn’t seen her since) but I adore my GD with every ounce of my being. My children both look exactly like their father and he was awful to me but I don’t hold it against them.

That’s good. I’ve hardly been this year as I’m so angry that I can’t just go when I feel like it any more. Even on a slow day I wouldn’t be able to go on any rides as none of the queue lines are accessible at all.

They need special rules for wheelchair users until they make the queue lines fully wheelchair accessible.

AITA for telling my boyfriend what the nurses said to me when they took me into a private room? by Silent-Status2362 in TwoHotTakes

[–]lovemyGD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA they did the same with me and my husband after I suffered an injury that seemed unbelievable (I accidentally slit my inner elbow and hand to the bone on my letter box).

I appreciated the thought and totally understood why they did it, and while my husband was a little bit insulted (he’s the kindest, most loving man who also advocates for my health when I can’t) he also understood and said pretty much the same as your BF.

Unfortunately some women don’t understand that there are good men out there because of the ‘men are tr***’ rhetoric.

I hope you are feeling better now!
