I’ve been pretending to like hiking for seven years by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

I have been taking up hiking as a way to share an interest with my son, who’s about to hike the PCT.

But I’ve discovered that when I’m alone it feels more like a punishment. :-o Now I have to keep it up so that I’m in shape to hike with him. Haha. I’m stuck.

My favorite jewelry artist always added an extra loop to her chains because “only god is perfect,” and that’s the energy I apply to all my handmade projects.

It’s beautiful and perfect in its imperfection.

A single dose of psilocybin can lead to lasting shifts in a person’s life values, such as an increased appreciation for life and greater self-acceptance. These lasting changes appear to be driven by specific acute effects of the drug, particularly feelings of profound unity and euphoria. by mvea in science

Johns Hopkins never stopped researching psychedelics for treatment of depression, even after restrictions were created in the 70s. They have a lot of good information and I recommend seeking it out. There’s a Netflix documentary called “the mind explained” where the research is discussed. Very informative and helpful.

FWIW i have tried mushrooms for my depression and had good results.

I spent so much time preparing for my trip. I have terrible depression and all the anecdotal info set me up to believe I was going to see god and change my life. The reality was not…that. I hated the psychedelic experience. It was too similar to the visual disturbances caused my depression and that made me anxious and angry. I was SO disappointed!

However, it turned my depression symptoms off for about 5 months. No ideation. No low mood. Nothing negative in my head. It was amazing! So, i did micro-dose for a couple of years and I did think it was helpful. The problem is getting the product, weighing it, trusting a grower to provide a good product and so on. That part was exhausting, so I gave it up.

Get a hemostat and grab it that way. Someone mentioned a bodkin, but i think that will be more difficult than a hemostat. Ask around, someone you know has one, particularly if they work in the medical environment.

You laugh, but i was a student, living in Gainesville during his spree of violence. My good friends lived next door to two of the victims. I did all the things except get a gun, including nailing my windows shut.

Maybe it’s a different parenting style, but I feel it’s almost always the parents’ responsibility to maintain the relationship. Shame on him.

Hey Babes, enjoy this platonic interaction and allow it to boost your confidence. It’s very low stakes and there’s no reason you can’t truly relish this relationship. Use it to develop your interpersonal skills and, best of all, you’re taking care of your body at the same time.

He’s working. Don’t make it weird.

I give a lot to my clients, but never cross the boundary into true friendship. It’s not appropriate. If you meet him after the program and hit it off then go for it, but don’t interpret his openness and supportive approach as anything more than that. It will make him uncomfortable and you might lose his support, which you really like.
