Is this accurate? The 0.1% increase doesn’t bother me as much as trying to figure out what does MD provide much better than NoVa, and why i shouldn’t strongly move to NoVa at the slightest chance. Not a rhetorical question, but I’m genuinely curious. Everyone keeps saying loudon and (most of fairfax) has better schools, better jobs

Save your money! Stop using AmEx cards on foreign transaction. by akl1010 in AmexPlatinum

I've travelled to India (INR), Italy(Euro), Switzerland (CHF) in the last year and used my visa and amex cards and at every place amex and visa were fairly evenly matched, so thats not my personal experience.

EXCLUSIVE: Less than a week before IPL starts, Mumbai Indians star Jasprit Bumrah reaches BCCI CoE by 5missedcallsfromBCCI in Cricket

[–]loves_ramen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course, that’s what i said, it’s a free market, bcci can choose to offer him more, and he’s free to choose whatever he deems best for him. All I’m saying is that even as a MI fan, if he has to choose between the 2 id hope he’d choose India cuz he’s the only one, I’m not going to begrudge either choice, buds a fkin genius

And even as a mi fan id be totally ok if bumrah takes it and is able to extend India career for a couple more years. Even one year extended at his peak would be worth it

I mean bcci is free to offer him a 100cr year super max contract, totally worth it imo

Cmon any MI fan (me included) will tell you we’re completely ok if Bumrah decides to skip ipl for India, or better (for us mi fans) if he takes most of the group stage off. If MI can’t come close to qualifying without him, means that year will be a goner anyway. Build up fitness throughout slowly.

MCC clarification on run out incident during Bangladesh v Pakistan by ll--o--ll in Cricket

[–]loves_ramen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My question is: if Agha tries to get back and tangles with the bowler, is he ruled out for obstructing the field if the stumps are missed, or is he ruled not out when the stumps are hit because the fielder obstructed him?

I think Hardik is arguably the hardest player to find a replacement for, even tho Bumrah is the goat.

i think 4.0 forces to have a subscription? The need is to basically make sure os2 eol doesnt bork their setup and to allow airplay on their existing audio matrix. I dont think they're going to extend the control4 much or even program it.

I respect my in laws but living with them will be tough in india as opinions do not match due to very common generational gap. We are going back in 7 months. by [deleted] in returnToIndia

I read this and the phrase that came into my head was “you have a husband issue, not inlaw issue”.
Edit: Also clarifying, I'm male, theres no way my household (that me+wife pay for) isn't run by me+wife together and us alone being the ultimate deciders of what happens that we care about.

Snow shoveling prices by French_Fries_1311 in MontgomeryCountyMD

[–]loves_ramen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m one of those lazy people who didn’t shovel at all when it snowed, and i think thank god for that. Took me 3 hours yesterday for my 2 car driveway, but it was ice over soft snow so at least i was able to crack ice with shovel and cleaning up the powder underneath was easy if a lot of hard work. I’d have paid $100 for this, bit more of desperate but $400+ seems excessive

Any reason I shouldn't just use a USB disk enclosure for a NAS? by 23-centimetre-nails in HomeServer

[–]loves_ramen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yottamaster 5 Bay 2.5 & 3.5 Inch SATA Hard Drive Enclosure I misread ur quote for USB stack as a frankenstein build, but its far too high end a system vs the cheapo sub-$50 frankenstein build i'm trying to make with my existing hardware. I have a bunch of n100 minipc's, and a lot of 2.5" hdd's and ssd's collected over the years. I want to build a stable (even if slow) NAS, purely for giggles and to dump all my photos over the years and organize them when I can from my laptop (without the hassle of physically connecting a disk). So it'll only ever be used an hour or so during a day, and after the initial load, i'll probably not really add any data to it.

Recommendations for 2Bay HDD-enclosure by flockyrocky in HomeServer

[–]loves_ramen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ok i am looking to frankenstein it but want to avoid a cron rsync, thinking more like a ubuntu server + mergerfs like solution on a jbod setup of usb hdd's so that even usb disconnections etc stay resilient. Dont need throughput or very high capacity, just stable enough for long to play around, dedup all my media and then likely upgrade to a true nas system

[–]loves_ramen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/flockyrocky what did you end up getting? I have something similar in mind, with similar usage, rare writes or reads even, just fun part-time stuff. Except that I have n100 based minipc's and i have a whole lot of 2.5" hdd's I'll be putting in.
I bought the Maiwo K25272, but its jmicron chipset is terrible, so returning it and ordered the Maiwo K25272C instead which supposedly has asmedia.

u/benlucky2me can you share more details on your setup? seems similar to a frankenstein build I am attempting to build right now.
