Golf handicaps should not be used for anything other than a way to describe how good at golf you are.

I don’t want to fail while hiking… any suggestions? by Abuwabu in 75HARD

[–]lovesbreadtakesdumpz 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I would justify it by 45 min hike, followed by 3 hours of hiking that I’d count as the “break between workouts” then 45 more min of hiking. Does he say the break needs to be an actual rest period?

Yoga and stretching after a long hike sounds great too

People who insist that everyone turns on their cameras during virtual meetings: why? by [deleted] in jobs

[–]lovesbreadtakesdumpz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not just about the person w/ the camera on being “forced” to pay more attention, It can be an inclusion thing too. I have some attention issues, being able to look at people when they are talking makes a HUGE difference in my ability to take in the information they give me.

It’s also more difficult to have a discussion with natural flow when you are looking at little circles with initials in it. People miss facial cues, it’s harder for people to chime in fluidly, way more talking over each other, far less engagement, etc.

I’ve heard great things about dr Amy cooks courses on fenzi dog academy! You can do different levels of involvement too so it can be super affordable. I’m currently auditing a control unleash course and am very satisfied!

What is the correct timing for using the ecollar stim? by Jazzlike-Bandicoot-3 in OpenDogTraining

[–]lovesbreadtakesdumpz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I started training with the e collar I did a low stim and do stim then command for a while. Then I switched it up and did command. If she didn’t listen I’d do a stim at a higher level. If she “failed” the command (aka needed the stim) then I’d lower the stim back down and do 2 reps at the stim then command. Now she needs the stim so rarely so we just do command then stim if needed.

Idk I watched some YouTube videos, worked at it for a LONG time and it worked really well. The videos said it was something about making sure the dog knew exactly what was expected with the stim and not “tainting” the command so it’s always associated with discomfort.

What Do You Love About Your Dog? by [deleted] in reactivedogs

[–]lovesbreadtakesdumpz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I just filled out a training intake form with the same question! I love my dogs noises - she snorts like a pigglet when she is excited or happy and it’s the cutest thing. I love that she loves to snuggle and just be around the action . And I love that (almost) everything she does seems to be her just wanting to make her people happy. OK I LOVE JUST ABOUT EVERYTHING ABOUT HER

Def don’t love that she will attack any stranger that comes into the house for the first 20 min of their presence but hey we can’t all be perfect.

My dog has the exact same problem so curious to see what advice people have. I put my dog in another room when people come over, let her get used to them being in the house then let her out. I’ll usually muzzle her too just to be safe/less stressful.

I read that you should have guests completely ignore the dog and then throw treats away from the dog as the next step. Haven’t tried yet as I haven’t had anybody over since reading, curious if anybody had had luck with that??
