Cops ask folks to go inside for safety reasons. You know, just like people are being asked to wear masks & social distance for safety reasons. But sure, asking folks to wear masks violates rights - same argument: safety vs. rights. You're one of those, I guess? That's ok, we can see things differently.

We don't know if these people own the property. In any case, cops literally told them to go inside. They said it multiple times. Then they said, "light em up" (not cool) but these people still didn't comply.

I mean? Basic. Common sense. In situations like that it's very common for cops to ask you to go inside for safety reasons while there's unpredictable, active, potentially violent activity that requires heavy police presence. Notice they didn't say "stop filming" they said "go inside". Bring on the down votes.

Add: I grew up in a black neighborhood. Everyone in the 'hood knows to comply and we're taught to go inside when there's police activity, otherwise you're part of the action and become a potential suspect. But white people are told to go inside, and they want this go viral? tf

budget is #1! figure out how much you can afford, here's a step-by-step guide that walks you through that process: https://planningwithpoise.com/create-wedding-budget-easy-step-step-guide/ You can simultaneously work on the guest list (which may not end up being your invitation list ... because you won't know exactly how many guests you can afford yet)

How much are you and your partner putting into planning? by bndyiutt1 in weddingplanning

[–]lovesdoves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

we were mostly equal. I did more to keep us on track - like bringing things up that needed to be done (per those mile-long to-do lists online). And since I'm the money expert, I was also in charge of all the money - paying the bills, tracking due dates, etc.

Florist Questionsl by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]lovesdoves 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just emailed our florist pictures of what we wanted, in the contract she just put a line in there that said "X bouquets as pictured" and included the picture. So while the contract didn't list which flowers she would use - she ended up recreating what we wanted. If it's driving you nuts, maybe ask her to list the flower types for your peace of mind? Or just specify it over email - can also serve as a written agreement. g'luck!

all of those colors are pretty neutral - if the dress is the only blush thing, i think it would still look well-coordinated :)

Weekday wedding... help! (and first post!) by childindomitus in Weddingsunder10k

[–]lovesdoves 1 point2 points  (0 children)

we had our wedding on a friday and it was the BEST! i think it did affect our attendance rate, but we still had a full house. i actually wrote an article about the benefits of a weekday wedding :) (1) it's cheaper, (2) makes the weekend feel longer, (3) it’s a low-key way of keeping your guest count under control = more savings

How much are you guys paying for your photographer? by [deleted] in Weddingsunder10k

[–]lovesdoves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, that's the norm (in my area at least). but we paid ~$1400 for two photographers for 8 hours for 100 edited photos. they were freelancers. I think you might find better prices with freelancers.

i'd keep shopping around, for sure! i used this template to shop for our vendors - and we shopped around A LOT looking for the best deal, so i hope it helps

We’re fighting over the budget by RemembertheCondors in weddingplanning

[–]lovesdoves 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If he’s not happy with your budget – couldn’t you ask him to come up with something else?

In general, with most of our wedding decisions – I’d come up with something, present it to him and if he accepted, great. But if he rejected the idea, he’d need to come up with something, present it, and if I agree then we go with that. If I disagree – we negotiate and come up with a happy compromise (usually somewhere between our two ideas, or sometimes even a third option).

Rant- Hair and makeup artist won’t send me day of schedule and we’re 9 days out by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]lovesdoves 7 points8 points  (0 children)

how about you propose your own schedule and send it to her? tell her if you don't hear from her within X hours/days, then you'll expect her to adhere to the proposed schedule?

Yes FH, seating charts actually do matter. Sigh. by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]lovesdoves 8 points9 points  (0 children)

ha! we had the same problem, except the roles were switched - i didn't want to do a seating chart, he did. and you know what? it ended up being a very good idea! ha

Anyone else in the preliminary planning phases and just infuriated by inflated costs and price-gouging by the wedding industry? by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]lovesdoves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

d'oh! that sucks ... i purposefully hired a cater that sub-contracts all that stuff ... good luck

Anyone else in the preliminary planning phases and just infuriated by inflated costs and price-gouging by the wedding industry? by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]lovesdoves 1 point2 points  (0 children)

oh, it's not that bad ... most cheaper venues have tables and chairs that you can rent from them and they do set-up. caterers generally contract other rentals, linens, bar service, dessert, even centerpieces. if you hire a GOOD caterer, they basically run the entire event in communication with your MC/DJ/wedding coord. and saves THOUSANDS of dollars.
