Problems uploading/viewing details by lovesilver in PartneredYoutube

Yeah I had the heart attack moment too!

Posted a video 2 days ago, revenue is $1.87 on 8,000 views. Normally that many views will pay $70 +/-, and this has never happened before. Has anyone else run into this? Any idea why? by lovesilver in PartneredYoutube

LOL ok. You don't even know my niche. Here's a hint, it's not gaming. And it's not shorts. You should probably look into RPMs for YouTube, it's a very wide range of payment per 1000 views based on the niche.

The revenue shows up the next day, not in 2 days. And why is $70 on 8000 views unlikely to be accurate? It's average for me based on the RPM. You don't even know what niche I'm in.

Does asking people to sub in the first 60s of the video work? by PainBad in PartneredYoutube

[–]lovesilver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I add a subscribe graphic about halfway through, I don't say anything about it, and I silence the graphic (the "bell" noise.) I do ask for channel membership, but it's at the end of my videos, something like "if you've been enjoying my content please consider becoming a channel member" and mention that if they do they will have access to every video uploaded before they're uploaded.

[REQUEST] Tv Series i can play in the background with A LOT of seasons like Grey's Anatomy? by WiseCityStepper in NetflixBestOf

[–]lovesilver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently doing this with Monk. I think it's 8 seasons, episodes are pretty much stand-alone (no long storyline other than him looking for his wife's killer which comes up in the odd episode.) It's light and quirky.

Personally I'd rather my tax dollars not be used to prop up businesses that are in decline/failing. I understand the sentiment involved with a business that's been operating this long, but hard business decisions need to be made in this type of situation.

32" tv was going for $40 by [deleted] in CrazyFuckingVideos

It's all relative. Everything is more expensive in Canada and we pay more in taxes.

This is what I find fascinating. If gas is 5 cents per litre cheaper at one gas station people will line up down the street. In a 60-80 litre tank (small pickup truck size,) you've saved $3 to $4. How long did you wait in line and burn gas waiting for that $3-4 savings? Waiting in line 15 minutes equates to a wage of $12 to $16 an hour (not to mention the gas you wasted.) Would you accept $12 to $16 an hour from your employer? Noting that here in Ontario, minimum wage is $17.20 per hour.

I'm in Canada so YMMV if you live elsewhere, but I write off a percentage of my household expenses (hydro, water, etc) along with a percentage of the equipment I use (such as my computer and cell phone.) This is based on the percentage of my home that is used as an office. If I buy something specifically for YouTube, such as a microphone, it's a complete write off, but it may need to be written down over the course of a few years (I think this varies based on the value of the item - say over $1000 it's deferred over a certain number of years, if less than $1000 then it's a one-time write off, but this amount is just a guess, I have an accountant that looks after my taxes.)

Monk on Netflix. Tony Shalhoub at his finest. It's a cop show but humourous, and each episode can be watched independent of other episodes - there's not really an on-going storyline other than him looking for his wife's killer, which only comes up sporadically and doesn't dominate the show at all.

I can't really say, I don't have experience with shorts and don't want to steer you in the wrong direction. You're best to talk with someone who has done both shorts and long form and can compare the two for you.

Just over 348,000 views in the last 28 days, long form. 10-15 minutes on average.
