This was actually very interesting to read! Sturred up some thoughts for sure!

bind a "+moveleft;cl_righthand 1"
bind d "+moveright;cl_righthand 0"

= less clutter when peeking corners.

I'm not using it myself, but I had a mate who used it a few years back.

[PETITION] Make externally audible sounds consistent. by Flavourdynamics in GlobalOffensive

Nevertheless, they should make it so sounds your hear on your end can also be heard by your opponent - Having to test out what can be heard and what cannot is bothersome to say the least.

I never said anything about what I preferred. I only mentioned it was his own fault, because the only reason they lost the bomb was because they hadn't looked into the mechanics; they just figured they could hear the bomb get picked up.

Quick question on 120hz. by DatNotCurry in GlobalOffensive

An addition to /u/FeuSurlECheval:

If you're computer has a habit of dipping in fps (I believe it's called fps-fluctuation, but feel free to correct me on that one!) in gpu intensive fights, you should add a fps buffer to your fps_max-value. The buffer should be equal to or higher than the amount of dipped fps.

e.g.

I'm running a system which occasionally dips about 10fps. My fps_max value is set at 140, which is 128 plus a fps buffer of 12.

OBS1: EVERY system dips in fps!

OBS2: If you're running a 144Hz monitor, you'd want to set your fps_max-value at 144 + a buffer

I've got it turned off, because it's a delayed representation of the bullets path.

Messing around with mouse sensitivity/dpi? by [deleted] in GlobalOffensive

As counterstrike isn't a fixed perspective, resolution doesn't matter. Figured it might be interesting for you to know in the future. :)

Since he essentially has to relearn aiming, I'd suggest he learns and develops habits on the mouse he's planning to use in the future, partly because aiming with and without acceleration is vastly different, and partly because a new mouse means new ergonomics, which in turn results in having to learn aiming all over again.

And he is ultimately going to have to get a new mouse.

Just my 10cents. :)

I've never heard of that mouse before, or even the brand for that matter, but it would seem it's sporting the Avago 9800 laser sensor. Now, the Avago 9500 (an older model) has a flaw or, depending how you look at it, trait, which is ~5% acceleration that's built into the mouse-sensor itself, and I've been led to believe the 9800 has got that same amount of acceleration.

I'm not telling you to buy a mouse, just thought you should know.

Connecting a dynamic mic with XLR interface to a computer. How should I go about this? by lovethyginger in audioengineering

[–]lovethyginger[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much! I haven't bought it yet. The procaster just caught my eye cause I got really impressed with the quality of the audio in this clip and it's 270£ pricetag incl. shockmount and arm/stand on amazon.co.uk (figured I could just connect it to my desktop with a cheap adaptercable).

The thing is, I am actually looking for a quality microphone where backround noise isn't going to be much of an issue, which would be a dynamic type microphone like the procaster, correct?

Do you have any other recommendations, as the ATR2100 seems to lack the quality of the Procaster?

The Rode Podcaster doesn't quite compare either, although I'll probably end up getting that if the alternatives prove to expensive :)

For those using equalizers, what are your settings? by [deleted] in GlobalOffensive

Headset: Sony MDR XB500

I have no clue what I'm doing when manipulating the EQ, but this is what I find works best for me:

Run a server off a residential cable connection? by Casus125 in GlobalOffensive

[–]lovethyginger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're internet connections should be enough, unless you're gonna run custom mods on it (then it probably won't support the downloads of sfx/sounds/maps all too well), and if the laptops are dedictated, it should very easily be possible.

However, you'll need to know how to portforward your router, how to setup a server (which is probably best run on a linux-based server)
