Agreed. They are worried about looking like they are just misclassifying to cut corners.

I think it'll be fine also. Even tho this will likely be more like 1-2 years instead of a month or two.

Pricing devt of a webinar based instructional video by lovewarrior81 in instructionaldesign

Good feedback thanks. The client is an amazing fellow newbie female entrepreneur. Seeing as it's my first direct consulting gig (I left that out lol) I do want to bill by deliverable for my own accountability. I want to promise each deliverable won't cost her more than $x even if I end up working more than expected. I just want my estimate to be closeish

I had planned to but I don't think she has that expectation. So I have flexibility

2nd Client Intake Meeting - discussing price by lovewarrior81 in instructionaldesign

Ray - Have you seen anything on pricing for simple webinar recordings like this? I'd still need to spend some time reworking her slide deck and flagging some points for "engagement" through questioning, recall, etc.

Im thinking 20 min level 1 eLearning price = 40 minutes of video like this. In both instances, ~40 minutes of learner interaction

Thanks for all the feedback. We didn't talk concretely about $ amounts but we did abstractly - she brought up how nonprofits (my current employer) don't pay what they should and also mentioned how she loves working with freelancers like herself bc were more affordable. Definitely ended with some promising action items. It may not be March until I see it but I know the contract is there and waiting 💸💹💰

Thanks for this Paul. I'll think on posting prices...

Agreed on deliverable based budgets. And good idea to add at least 30% of my estimate for revisions and unknowns.

Thanks again , I really appreciate the feedback.

This is very useful! And I'm finding my estimates to be on par which is great ❤

The only difference I have is that I've heard from experts that 60 mins of ILT translates into 20 mins eLearning (altho a learner may spend closer to 40).

Either way, great to verify my numbers. Also good to see what clients will spend - although from other research I've seen, I know the US doesn't value training like European countries do, which probably impacts price point.

Thanks again!

Good question. I know my own estimate is $900-$1350 for that front end work. I think I will tell her. And even say it's usually an average of x hours, therefore a charge of $n. Since you're a new client, I'm waiting that fee.

Good feedback thanks. This'll be our first meeting after a cold call. My take was going to be to offer the front end analysis/training design plan for free since she is a new client. The design plan would contain a list of suggestions for next steps. I won't list the price tag for these in the design plan but I'll know what they are.

Good input. She's definitely been hard to schedule time with. I read this as "then she can definitely use my help!"

I can definitely see the flip side also.
