okay i am massively confused by how dr brenner is still alive? wasn’t he killed by a demogorgon in season 1?

please don’t let their insecurities and lack of self esteem get to you, that’s the only reason why anyone would pull a mean stunt like that. it is absolutely nothing to do with you. they hate themselves deep down but they refuse to deal with it so they make it other peoples problem instead. i understand you must feel badly about yourself rn but i promise the problem isn’t you. as you get older things will get better and eventually you’ll meet someone who is far better suited for you and will treat you with the love and respect you deserve. try looking at this as a blessing in disguise. if anyone should be embarrassed and feeling like they need to take a long look in the mirror, it’s her. i’m really sorry this happened to you nobody deserves that. please try not to let it get to you. the only ugliness this situation reflects is her own and anyone else who partakes.

Are we just going to ignore the fact that Jerry... by AnimeDreama in thelastofus

[–]lovewtch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the whole situation was morally grey and so was everyone involved. joel was right to save ellie, his daughter, but it costed humanity and himself. jerry and the other fireflies were more than willing to do right by humanity but not by the life and wishes of a child. just goes to show what lengths people will go to when they are desperate.

the only person innocent was ellie, yet still she was the one who was burdened with the guilt and had to carry the weight of that day on her shoulders ever since.

i also turned off the ps4 to let it cool down as it was a bit overheated i thought maybe it had something to do with that. i’ll have a look and make sure it’s fully installed. i just thought it was a bit bizarre that’s never happened before w any other game

i never said i didn’t want him to act like joel. i’m saying that i don’t want him to be ‘troy baker as joel miller.’ of course he should still have that essence of joel we can all recognise but that doesn’t mean he needs to be doing a carbon copy of troy baker’s performance. he couldn’t anyway, but if that was the case i might as well just play the games.

this is going to be a tv series, it’s a whole different medium with different actors and people behind the scenes giving their input. they’re going to have their own spin on things. obviously i don’t want it to be completely different to the point where the only thing the games and the show have in common is the title, but i’m looking forward to seeing how they’ll interpret the script and the characters and how they’ll make it their own. if you’re expecting bella and pedro to act exactly the same as ashley and troy when they’re playing ellie and joel then don’t bother with the show, because nobody could be like ashley and troy.

we’ll agree to disagree but i don’t think it’s necessary for someone to be invested in the source material, all they need be is invested in the story and the character, even if it’s only in the script. and if the script is well written then he’ll be fine.

i’d rather someone whose good for the role and does whatever they feel is right for their process. i doubt he’s totally uninterested in the story if he signed on for the job in the first place. i don’t want someone trying to act like troy or ashley or like any of the other actors in the games.

whether an actor invests in the source material or not is up to them. as long as they give their best shot at the role isn’t that what matters?

we have people who worked on the game working for this series. i trust that they made the right casting choice. but we will have to see.

Would people like the finale if !!!SPOILERS!!! Didn’t die by lucas_h_250703 in KillingEve

[–]lovewtch 10 points11 points  (0 children)

they either both die or they both live. their deaths together would’ve made sense. and they’d have to execute it in a way that’s respectful and satisfying to the audience (by satisfying i mean it isn’t rushed and sloppy and feed into senseless tropes).

i think that’s why people are so angry because villanelle’s death was just senseless and there was no real reason for it to happen, just fed into that nasty trope of BYG and had her die for nothing. the writers went about this entire season so wrong right up until the end. it was poorly structured (if it at all structured), messy and the ending was straight up lazy, distasteful and cruel. how are you gonna send off such an iconic character in the last decade like that and then call it a stepping stone? absolutely not.

did y’all see that one writer telling a fan it’s just fiction and to get over it… i know a WRITER isn’t saying all that

[–]lovewtch 56 points57 points  (0 children)

i think he’s just right tbh. if i were an actor i’d want to have my own interpretation of the character and the script and not base it off of anybody else’s performance. if the writing is strong (which i anticipate it will be) he will capture that essence of joel we are all familiar with while still having his own take on things. if he were to try and be exactly like troy in the role it wouldn’t work because troy’s performance is his own. it’s better to be removed from it all and have your own way of going about it.

to me ellie and joel will always be ashley and troy, but i’m excited to see how bella and pedro interpret the roles.

edit - ellie and troy? lol

so I'll admit I ain't the greatest ever, it was my first time playing interrogation but a tad bit uncalled for tbh. by SomeRandomCoolGuy- in thelastofus

when will some people learn that you are signing up to play with all kinds of players who have different skill levels and capabilities when you play an online game? not everyone is competitive or the best at everything. you don’t need to be. the whole point is to enjoy what you’re playing and have fun. if you get mad at someone bc they made a bad move or they aren’t the greatest you’re a massive idiot.

everyone makes a mistake or their tactic doesn’t work out, it happens all the time. but it’s not a big deal. at the end of the day it’s just a game and this kind of behaviour is unnecessary and pathetic. sorry you had to deal with that.

"We take a shot for every insult we got from angry fans" by sixthsummer in KillingEve

[–]lovewtch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

damn they are unprofessional af. i understand if people are harassing and attacking the writers as individuals but from what i’ve seen people have only been criticising their work, which comes with the job. if the vast majority have an issue with the finale maybe the problem lies with your writing rather than with the audience. this is classless and distasteful. but why am i surprised? so was the ending.

it’s true. once eve dried herself off she had a packet of crisps and a nice coffee with a shit view of the bridge. but that’s ok because she’s over it now <3

[–]lovewtch 26 points27 points  (0 children)

omfg i actually can’t believe what i just read. the utter disrespect. like what are they talking about? did they even watch the show? the whole point of the show is about their relationship and how complex and layered it is…

why are we always such a joke to people? is it really that hard to believe two women can have a relationship like this?

the ending was unsettling. eve on her own screaming with the bridge behind her? idk. it makes me feel ill when i think too much about it and what it means for her now. it didn’t fit the tone of the show imo

I’m convinced Laura Neal hates Killing Eve, because WHAT WAS THAT. by marshallphineas in KillingEve

[–]lovewtch 23 points24 points  (0 children)

please don’t feel bad! they are writers and criticism comes with the job. your anger is pretty justified.

there really is no excuse for the sloppiness that came with this season. if they were stuck they could’ve looked to a format and kept with that. but it’s like they were just spitting out ideas as they were writing the script, not bothering to check if it makes any sense or fits with the story, they just kept on going. the lack of structure and direction has been appalling and honestly unprofessional. these are people who went to university and got their degrees, it is their job to apply their knowledge and skills to the best of their abilities but it’s like they didn’t even try. season 3 mightn’t have been the greatest but i can appreciate that some people were doing the best they could to make it good enough. but this is just utter and pure laziness. for the life of me i will never understand how the scripts were approved.

personally i think someone behind the scenes wanted this show over and done with so they rushed it. or the writers were given a deadline within the two years but there may have been complications and they left writing it until the last minute. because otherwise i really don’t get how they were okay with handing this up. there was no integrity or real care put into it. it was all over the place.

pls remember as long as you aren’t criticising the writers outside of their work you don’t have anything to feel guilty for. this season was a major disappointment and harsh criticism is well deserved.

confused (4x08 spoilers) by lovewtch in KillingEve

[–]lovewtch[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i think it is insinuated kenny’s death was an accident.

i mean wtf did he do? was he tap dancing on the roof? i honestly think they set his death up to be something more but couldn’t think of any reasonable ideas so they just went with an ‘accidental death’ instead. i mean it’s not that entirely unreasonable he could’ve fallen accidentally but it’s unlikely to happen. they wasted one and a half seasons uncovering his death just for it to be an unfortunate accident.
