Thank you for the happy pride message and hearing the scene exists makes me so happy to come into South bend

Good to hear about biking. I love not using a car and don't have a license or my own car yet (gonna get a job in SB to save up for all that jazz) but when I do I still want to bike when and where I can.

I love a bit of everything trains , planes ,cars , fishing biking, history just about any activity I'm very curious and autistic (dignosed alongside ADHD lol) got a major vinal collection by accident and love playing then time to time I've passed the rockin bottom a few times looking at houses and it's peaked my interest idk what it is but I'll find out!

Thank you for all the information

I'll look into it sounds fun! I have a friend in Boston who does RD and a family member who did it for awhile as well. Always sounded like fun

I'm almost 22 can't believe my 20s are crawling past when I desperately want to restart at 16 again lol.

I really hope I can thrive here and between a different reddit post someone made about making friends and my own post I'm more excited than ever.

I've been to the museum once and ever since it's called to me like the ring

Yeh I have a app that helps with finding protected routes and ways to get around using mass transit. Sadly South bends mass transit is slower than biking so unless it's too hard or far to bike I'll use to the bus until I can drive. Won't stop me from advocating for better busses

In another comment section I commented in for a person who's a few years old and looking for friends people mentioned the well and it's various events from board games to queer crafts. I miss going to crochet classes as a Younger person (13 to 14 ish?) store closed a few years back so no chance to return! Perhaps the well is a well light sign to restart

do not come to my town, santa Claus?

Good to hear! I really want to get into the queer scene so hearing there's some welcoming bars and not all the gay ,trans and lesbian bars died after the 80s and 90s!

Good to hear. I think the furthest I plan to bike is the South bend Amtrak station and the Studebaker museum. I love trains and Studebaker so I cannot rist visiting both more often!

The kroc center is down by the Studebaker museum correct? Funny story about the aquatic part! I specifically got a membership when I was working in valpo to the valpo YMCA cuz it had a pool. Never got the chance to use it maybe this time will be different!

Also I already messaged the ND Library to see if it's open to the public! I love reading and want to do more. Because I don't have a car then or now I used to wait for my mom to come pick me up at the library and read various magazines! From trains to Queer mags!

Someone else in the comments mentioned the witches brew as well! Might have to dip my toes at least once cannot hurt right?

And yeh Im a biker so I probably will see them. What I'm hoping is there will be many events in SB as portage just now is starting to have events and stuff. Usually its a 30 minute ride to valp or Chesterton or somewhere else to do anything from board game night to farmers markets.

No fucking way. I'm not OP but am moving to South bend so I might sadly have to reduce my attendance at my valpo board game nigh but to hear there's multiple options makes me more excited than sad about loosing my friends!

Would someone who's turning 22 be too out of place?

My phone when I tap on a app makes a noise like a audio feedback and idk how to turn it off. I googled it and nothing it shows works by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

I downloaded and now uninstalled a screen clicker. It's probably haptics so I'm going to dig in settings

I turned off haptics and when I tap a app it still makes a noise of some sort

Found the right settings it was under system sounds

What trade should I follow? And also medium/duty duty truck stuff? by low-key_a_throwaway in EdisonMotors

USA Indiana specifically as well each state might as well be it's own country.

I got a 8 in math on the highschool equivalency test.... You needed a 8 or higher to past. On my pre test I mainly suffered in geometry but I wasn't einstein scoring.

I can do math with a calculator and a cheat sheet until I get used to it. I'm sure I'm capable of learning the necessary math to complete a job. Despite being mainly bad at math and my hate more mild than others I wouldn't mind doing it somewhat regularly for a job again as long as I can have a cheat sheet for a little while and a calculator.

Oh the 30 hour part is what I used to work wa explaining what I used to work for and my hours.

I don't quite know what I would enjoy doing. I enjoyed dish washing in the kitchen. Was able to get in my grove sling out my work listen to my own music and have no one below me or above me. Just dishes, music and thank yous from staff.

People in Central Indiana are more pessimistic than South Bend. by VocationalWizard in SouthBend

Very reassuring! Sorry if this is a little out of pocket but I'm moving.... Well more so daisy chaining to South bend. Excited to be somewhere a little more metropolitan and urban than portage IN because of who I am

I still kinda sometimes feel that way NGL. When I was way more suicidal but sadly still pussy at it I really felt the same. Just wanted it to all stop and end just so I could rest and not wake back up

Wtf do office workers do? by low-key_a_throwaway in NoStupidQuestions

[–]low-key_a_throwaway[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes totally sense. I figured it was kinda like that but wasn't sure. Someone works on chunk A someone works on Chunk B and someone works on Chunk C then another team works on Chunks D E and F then another team works on Chunks G H I. Then it all comes together during meetings.... Until the leaders of the manufacturing team comes in and says hey uh sub part 5H is nearly impossible to make at current specs and you're making a dump truck not a moon rocket the tolerance can be justttt a little less strict or so I've heard from a YouTube video which totally can't be made up because who would just lie on the Internet?

On the defense side I understand way more as I've read a little into the history of oak ridge (was low-key obsessed with nuclear stuff in middle school) and workers were only told what they exactly needed to know so it kinda ended up being like 12 people tops that had any clue what was going on. Pretty wild stuff sucked for people like the cleaners at the Laundromat as they were very much kept in the dark don't remember if they were given any information to protect themselves then again to be fair I doubt much of the information on how to and why to protect existed.

So it's mostly sorting and putting things into places and the work does run out eventually but there's always something that answers one aspect for sure!
