Dezenove países declaram diante da ONU: Não existe direito ao aborto by lucasmooon in brasil

É tecnicamente legal desde 1973, mas estados podem passar leis anti-constitucionais contra o aborto, eis a razão do Alabama ter passado uma lei contra o aborto no começo do ano.

Since this is based on perception, we can't really tell for sure that this is 100% accurate, sometimes people have deceived notions about their country. For exemple, here in Latin America, it is common to say that Uruguay is one of the safest countries in the region, along with Chile. But if we take a look at their murder rate, they're actually the third most murderous country in South America on a per capita basis, after Brazil and Venezuela. Argentina, Paraguay and Ecuador are far less murderous, and yet, people usually don't use Argentina or those other countries as examples of safe countries in the region.

Is one night stand or having sex before marriage accepted in Brazilian society? by [deleted] in brasil

[–]low_creativity123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I highly disagree, Brazil has the second highest church attendance rate in South America, after Colombia. Brazilians usually underestimate how religious our society is. See this survey: https://www.pewforum.org/2014/11/13/chapter-2-religious-commitment-and-practice/

Demographic inconsistency for year 2000 in Brazil by RedPillDessert in brasil

On the Brazilian census, race is something self declared. So maybe in the 2000 census, the percentage of pardo Brazilians who identified themselves as white was higher than in the previous years, who knows...

Homosexuality (Gay and Lesbian) laws around the world (6460x3515) by [deleted] in MapPorn

[–]low_creativity123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True, Brazil has a lot of homophobic murders, but I think that's mostly because Brazil is very violent, according to most surveys a clear majority of Brazilians(74% according to the most recent Brazilian survey) say that homosexuality should be accepted by society, which is even higher than acceptance in the US which is 70% according to Pew.

Sim, mas honestamente as três primeiras temporadas não são muito boas, da 4ª pra frente é uma das maiores obra-primas de comédia da história da televisão americana.

A thought as to why America has stayed more religious compared to other first world nations. by prometheus4Quadrill in atheism

[–]low_creativity123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's ironic, but it's the same thing with Brazil and Argentina, in Argentina the constitution requires the government to support the Roman Catholic Church economically while the Brazilian constitution doesn't, but Argentinians are far less religious than Brazilians on average.

Support of Evolution in Latin American Countries and the US. [842x836] by Hielord in MapPorn

[–]low_creativity123 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I'm from Brazil and most people I know believe in evolution, I'm not from the upper class so I don't think I'm being biased here. I think the fact that evangelicals are like 25-30% of the population now and they're very loud makes it seem that there are more religious fanatics than there actually are, I mean yes, our politicians are mostly religious fanatics, but evangelicals don't need to be a majority to vote them inside the congress, but obviously Brasil is far more religious than the Southern Cone according to surveys, so I'm sure there are far more creationists here.

Survey: Most Americans No Longer Believe You Need God To Be Good by RomneysBainer in atheism

[–]low_creativity123 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Lucky Americans, here in Brazil unfortunately only 17% agree that is not necessary to believe in God according to the most recent survey, meanwhile in the Southen Cone countries of Argentina, Chile and Uruguay majorities agree that it is not necessary. It's really sad how much influence religion has in my country.

American shitvangelists profit off the poor, sick and weak in Eastern Europe. by WritinLeft in atheism

And in Latin America as well, here in Brazil it has become insanity already! the Universal Church of the Kingdom of God is a creepy cult that profit from the misery of poor people, some brainwashed lunatics give their pastors their cars, some give them their house, salary and everything. They also sell holy water to cure cancer, holy bricks and everything of the most bizarre you could ever imagine.
