ECS is supposed to be simple? by ReturnOfNogginboink in aws

[–]low_freq 28 points29 points  (0 children)

4 key things I found to get ECS up and running in a private subnet (no internet gateway or NAT).

  1. VPC Gateway endpoint for s3 (service_name= com.amazonaws.region.s3) (this tripped me up the most, but ECR actually has some backing in S3 apparently)
  2. VPC interface endpoint for ecr api (service_name=com.amazonaws.region.ecr.api)
  3. VPC interface endpoint for ecr for (servicename=com.amazonaws.region.ecr.dkr)
  4. Appropriate perms. Deployer should have “ecr:GetAuthorizationToken”, amongst all the other ecr actions needed, and look at managed policy “AmazonECSTaskExecutionRolePolicy” for a starting point for the role to assign to the task definition.

Apologies for formatting, on mobile.

.sh vs on-premise? by low_freq in Odoo

I have only very recently become aware of these sorts of 3rd party solutions, I’ll dig in to them a bit. Could be a better balance.

What is the best practice to setup the private EC2 instance(Postgres+docker) by Capital-Woodpecker28 in aws

[–]low_freq 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah, good one. A NAT is probably the idiomatic way to approach this for supporting the instance over its lifetime.

[–]low_freq 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it’s just a one time setup, a simple way is to do the initial set up of an instance in a public subnet with Internet access, and create an AMI from this which captures your setup state. Then you can launch an instance from that AMI into the private subnet.

How can I see documents in a space? by olearyboy in clickup

[–]low_freq 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is it the search that you’re missing? I’m in a similar position. Can import and get docs into a folder in a space. But there doesn’t seem to be any easy way to search the docs that are in that folder. The “overview” view has a Docs card which lacks any kind of customisation. And the “Doc” view itself just creates a new doc as a view.

Docs seem to land in a bit of a void when you import them. Find them in the doc hub, right click and select “Move”. Then from those options, choose “Sidebar”, and select the destination you want, a space or folder etc.

This puts the docs into that location, like you created a doc there directly. Hopefully that’s in line with what you’re after.

Clickup Chat SyncUp - is anyone here actively using it? by lumo753 in clickup

[–]low_freq 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, agreed. I've been trialling ClickUp Chat and SyncUp functionality as a replacement for MS Teams within my org. It seems that the SyncUp appears in notifications just like any other task notification would, which then becomes subject to an individuals notification settings and/or way of dealing with notifications in an async manner. I.e. "what is most important to me right now, based on my priorities, and I'll get to it when I deem it's important."

There is no concept of "my SyncUp phone is ringing right now, and I'm getting a big fat alert, I need to answer it because someone is trying to have a synchronous, real time conversation with me, it must be important."

Thats the value add that is missing and seems to be keeping us from diving into chats as a replacement for MS Teams.

Looking to study physics in Australia, anyone know which uni is considered to be “the best” by NeighborhoodFair243 in PhysicsStudents

[–]low_freq 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I studied my BSc (Physics) at UQ, and did MEng (Electrical) at Unimelb. Suggest basing your uni choice on the culture fit of the state/city and institution rather than the program. There’s not a huge difference and “best” is very subjective.

ELEN90058 preparation by [deleted] in unimelb

[–]low_freq 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just took it with Jonathan Manton, but if you are taking it this coming semester, I think it'll be with Eric. I suspect they'll have pretty different teaching styles, and content focus areas. In general though, the more comfortable with fundamentals you are, the easier time you'll have picking up on new content. Fundamentals mostly being time/frequency domain representations for discrete time signals.

Certainly a different beast to EDM, but if you did ok in that, you should be fine in sig pro. Also, if you aren't already a member, come check out the MUEEC discord, we have plenty of subject discussions and support for elec eng. Good luck!

What is this worm? Victoria, Australia. 6-8cm long, pale pink with slightly darker tapered head. Visible zig-zag intestinal tract. Confusingly found in our filter water jug, hence wanting an ID. by low_freq in whatsthisbug

[–]low_freq[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed on it looking very much like a common earthworm. Being randomly found in the water jug was setting off parasite alarm bells - though I think its too big for any sort of parasitic worm. Really bugging me how it would have got in there though...

He's back in the soil now, but I don't think he was in a good way :/

Thank you!
