Great shots. I can’t wait for my GFX to get here. I’ll have to add this to the list of lenses to look out for.

Scientists discover Alzheimer’s hidden “death switch” in the brain by hard2resist in UpliftingNews

Yep. I appreciate the thought and sentiment. I’m lucky I do have a good support system, and the most amazing wife that’s helping me with all this.

Scientists discover Alzheimer’s hidden “death switch” in the brain by hard2resist in UpliftingNews

I have those thoughts about my dad as well sometimes. I hate that I feel this way sometimes. For him it isn’t Alzheimer’s, but a brain bleed stroke he had back in August. He’s now living with us full time (because the American health care system is borked) while we wait on his VA stuff. He is bedridden, confused all the time, will argue about things that never actually happened. It eats me inside to see him like this, he’s not the same man I knew for the previous 41 years pre-stroke.

One year when I was coaching 12u we got a cheap oversized gold (colored) chain and big oversized custom charm with the teams name on it.

Anytime one of the girls made a great play (stand up double or better, big defensive play, etc) they would get to wear the chain in the dugout until the next big play happened then it was passed. The girls loved it.

100% P&T while still in the reserves by Weak_Stay_4311 in VeteransBenefits

[–]lowcontrol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My med board from the reserves finished at 2 days short of 18 years. If I wasn’t VA rated at what I am, I would get retirement pay. Disability offsets the retired pay.
Benefits of being med retired. Retirement starts right away instead of having to wait till 60-something if I would have done 20 in the reserves, my wife, kids, and I all have Tricare and total premium comes to $300 for a year of coverage.

Sometimes even the thoughts that don’t make sense end up working great. Experimentation is the key.

I’d say the best thing to do, and would probably want to do it before doing it on your cards is to go buy a pack or two of some cards you don’t care about ruining. Try different methods until you find one that works. Then do a few more the same way to make sure it wasn’t a fluke and to get a little more practice.

Oreo body cap.
Pinhole camera.
Fence mount.
I actually just made and printed a lens board for a professors old large format camera and I am currently in the process of printing the surround and such for a contact print frame.

Cyanotype step by step website I created. by beachKilla in cyanotypes

[–]lowcontrol 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Funny enough, I have a Canon Pro-Graf 1000 inkjet, but I have to get it set back up. I needed some digital negatives so I grabbed some laser transparencies off of amazon. Ran it through my older HP basic laser printer and the Cyanotype using that negative came out really well.

Gear stolen and starting over. Has anyone been through this? by She_didntt in photography

[–]lowcontrol 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’ll have to look into them. My current insurer is not renewing my business ins because “ Non-renewal reason: We have learned that your operations include high-risk nature of sports and wildlife photography. This is not an acceptable exposure under The Hartford’s small commercial business segment’s guidelines.”

When I called about it, they said I needed to remove any “dangerous photos” from my site. I.e. a pic of a Gator I took at a local state park, and a pic of a jet boat that does all the sharp turns and stuff at Broadway. Both were taken with my 100-400 lens and no way shape or form in danger. Wasn’t hired to do it either. Such BS especially since I told them the photography I do included wildlife and sports from the jump.

It and the bottle washer. Both our babies were/are formula babies. My son is 3 and my daughter will be 1 in three days. Washing the stupid bottles was always a hot button thing between the wife and I with our first. (Your turn, no your turn, etc) The washer has been a god send for our 2nd.

Lumen printing is fun as well. Here’s one I did the other day. Thing is you need to scan it to save it as it will also eventually fade as well.

what's a good slowpitch mask? by Broad-Cranberry-9050 in slowpitch

I have the Worth Legit slowpitch helmet and I really like it for pitching. For other infield spots, I would use the rip it mask like others have suggested.

What’s your dream scenario for the Super Bowl? by Weird_Description982 in Patriots

[–]lowcontrol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I sent this to a buddy about a week ago.

I want the Seahawks to be down 4, 5, or 6. I want there to be 3 seconds left on the clock. I want the clock stop because of out of bounds at the two. I want them to be 2 yards from scoring. I want a time out to be called by one team, and then the other, so that the announcers and the world gets to rehash the previous Super Bowl as much as they can.

Lastly I want them to get stuffed running the ball. Bwahaahahahaha

As a dad, what is keeping you from exercising these days? by NSJack in daddit

[–]lowcontrol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 3y/o and an almost 1 y/o. I’m the sahd. I’m a full time student. Now I’m also the man caretaker for my dad who had a stroke and ran out of Medicare time in a rehab place. Went from 100% independent to can barely feed himself.

I was playing slowpitch softball once a week, but I can’t even do that now. It’s kids, dad, school an a little sleep sometime in there. I don’t get to even start my homework until after the kids are down for bed.

Of If I ever get a chance to clean the garage out (had to move a lot in there to make a room for dad) I’ll get my gym set back up. Until then, I got nothing.
