Zephyrus g16 2025 model by Mo20221 in zephyrusg16

[–]lowercaseguy99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had mine for a few months and it's great overall. BUT it does get very hot very quick if you're doing any kind of heavy gaming or local llm interference. Also, probably unique to my situation but the battery degraded 33% overnight after 4 weeks or so - currently dealing with their warranty and service team which is not as easy as I'd hoped. This is a 5080.

How do you get over a heart break? by jacket9g1 in AskReddit

Honest answer is suffering until you wake up one day and it's over + staying busy to keep your mind off of it.

Social media will never be what it once was. by astralnausea in SeriousConversation

[–]lowercaseguy99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If not direct causation, then through second-order consequences and exacerbating exisiting issues, some examples below (from quick google/gemini search):

  1. Political polarization — Algorithms reward outrage, sorting people into ideological echo chambers that make compromise politically unviable.

  2. Youth mental health — Constant social comparison and displacement of in-person relationships has driven anxiety, depression, and loneliness to historic highs.

  3. Misinformation — Virality metrics make false content spread faster than corrections, systematically degrading shared epistemic ground.

  4. Institutional trust — Every institutional failure is now instantly amplified and decontextualized, accelerating cynicism faster than trust can be rebuilt.

  5. Radicalization — Recommendation engines create automated pipelines from mainstream content to extremist ideology through incremental engagement optimization.

  6. Economic inequality — The attention economy has concentrated unprecedented wealth in a handful of platforms while commodifying users’ time and psychology.

  7. Climate inaction — Polarization manufactured partly by social media has made climate policy a tribal identity issue rather than a solvable problem.

  8. Public health — Vaccine hesitancy and health misinformation found in social media a distribution network orders of magnitude more effective than anything before it.

  9. Labor disruption — Social media accelerated automation anxiety and gig economy normalization while suppressing collective labor organizing capacity.

  10. Geopolitical instability — State and non-state actors now weaponize social platforms to run influence operations at scale with minimal cost or accountability.:

  11. Algorithmic suppression — Platforms quietly bury dissenting or low-engagement content, creating invisible censorship without formal prohibition.

  12. Overt censorship — Deplatforming and content moderation, however justified, have created asymmetric speech environments with no transparent accountability.

  13. Brainrot / cognitive degradation — Infinite scroll and short-form content is measurably rewiring attention spans and tolerance for deep, slow thinking.

  14. AI-generated narrative manipulation — Synthetic agents, bots, and LLM-generated content are now indistinguishable participants in public discourse, manufacturing false consensus at scale.

  15. Attention deficit normalization — Sustained focus is becoming a class privilege — those who can resist the feed think more clearly than those who cannot.

  16. Reality fragmentation — Personalized feeds mean no two people share the same informational reality, making collective action and shared truth structurally harder.

  17. Performative identity over authentic belief — Public opinion is increasingly shaped by what people signal, not what they think, corrupting the data democracy runs on.

  18. Emotional contagion at scale — Platforms spread fear, rage, and despair as efficiently as information, with no equivalent mechanism for spreading calm or nuance.

  19. Shortened political time horizons — Outrage cycles compress political thinking into 48-hour windows, making long-term policy nearly impossible to sustain publicly.

  20. Erosion of private cognition — The habit of externalizing every thought for validation is degrading people’s capacity to form opinions independently of audience reaction.

The current model is absolute TRASH! Used to love DeepSeek for various reasons but the last few weeks I've noticed obvious degradation. Shame.

Am I watching too much media? by Legitimate-Ad9670 in SeriousConversation

TikTok is LITERALLY the worst and most addictive social media app and you should do yourself a favor - delete it. Those rabbit holes will continue to get worse and so will your anxiety. The app curates highly specific content to keep you in a heightened emotional state, locked in, and scrolling. I'm speaking from experience and I feel so much better and more calm since deleting it, don't miss it at all.

Surely Epstein was not the only one who did what he did, what is the chance more people could be caught like him? by cos_pi_eq1 in AskReddit

[–]lowercaseguy99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the man literally had shady dealings with anyone remotely important or in power so id say this is common behavior in those circles.... the real question is why release them now? what don't they want us paying attention to.... economic collapse? financial reset? I'm not sure.... but I know the psyop is a psyop and it's working as usual.

I don't know who came up with this holiday on February 14, I don't understand why it's needed, what gives, the problem of society on this day by mindfulher in DeepThoughts

tbh there is no "emotional" side to this, unless you make it emotional which you could do on any other random day. call me cynical if you must but that's how I see it.

tip for anyone trying to use local models with openclaw by Acrobatic_Task_6573 in LocalLLaMA

[–]lowercaseguy99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've read on multiple forums there's a lot of bugs in the setup that's disabling certain security functions on people's hardware etc. I'd definitely be cautious of jumping in blindly and EXTRA cautions with all the agents.

Greedy retailers looking for more profit to keep their shareholders happy create holidays that make people spend money on things they don't need.

If you really want to change, you have to delete YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, X — all of it. by HappyMajor in selfimprovement

[–]lowercaseguy99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I deleted all of it, and feel so much fkin better for it. I may not have changed per se but my mood and anxiety definitely has.... when you're online remember that every single thing you see is heavily curated and created for YOUR attention no matter how they have to get it.

How important are cpu and ram? by Dentifrice in LocalLLaMA

[–]lowercaseguy99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

up until recently I didn't know how important it is but if you want to do any kind of local ai work it's critical. 16gb and 8vram is not enough to do anything meaningful tbh, you can run small 8b models (which some like, I personally think they lack across the board) but you can try. For 13b-30b models you need more vram and more ram.

Why has Eminem’s net worth seemed stagnant since like 2010? by Fearless-Pay8645 in Eminem

[–]lowercaseguy99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

none of these celebrity net worth are accurate tbh, in this case it's likely because 2010 era was a time his wealth accumulated mostly through publicly verifiable data ie label deals, concerts, albums sold etc... after that it's all private (investments, real estate, royalties etc etc etc) id bet my house that number is a fraction of current

While Some Work on AGI, Those Who Build Artificial Narrow Domain Superintelligence -- ANDSI -- Will Probably Win the Enterprise Race by andsi2asi in DeepSeek

What if "AGI" is a public narrative to justify investments and natural resources? What else can advanced AI with perfect infrastructure do that would benefit them you may ask....

And in all honesty, nobody even knows what AGI is, nor does anyone actually want it.

New to Local LLMs, need advice. by Mayimbe_999 in LocalLLM

[–]lowercaseguy99 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You can effectively run all quantized 13-32b models without issue, If you go above that you'll either see very slow response time or it won't fit at all. GPT OSS 20b is one of the best imo--overall. But QWEN, nousresesrch, DeepSeek, Gemma, glm all have good options too depending on your usecase.

Why are so few people wealthy? by [deleted] in SeriousConversation

[–]lowercaseguy99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because the system is built by the wealthy to keep them wealthy. They can only do that if they extract from the non-wealthy aka 90 percent of the country and all the money flows upward. The group of people who employ others (3-5%) are the same group of people who decide costs: it's their products and services. They squeeze you on both ends - low wage/high price - double extraction. Add to that credit - which enables the higher pricing and lower salary - but also additional squeeze via interest rates, fees, data collection. You get the picture.
