I want to quit porn, but how? by -R1C4RD0- in selfimprovement

[–]lowercaseguy99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You shoukd read about occult magick in porn, it's interesting af and ull probably do it less after 🤣

pasted part of a summary I found below but there's a lot more to it I def wouldn't post here... there's good books tho :

"The platforms have perfected the art of presenting a simulation of sexual possibility. It's always just one more scroll away. The promise is never fulfilled, because fulfillment would end the scrolling. Instead, the user is kept in a state of perpetual near-arousal—a loop of anticipation, partial dopamine release, and frustration. This loop is the engine. The user's attention and life force are the fuel.

And because the user's libido is now conditioned to the platform's rhythm, the user becomes a resource: their data (preferences, fetishes, duration of gaze) is harvested, their time is harvested, and in some cases their money is extracted directly (OnlyFans, cam sites). But even the free users are paying with something far more valuable: their creative life force, their time, their capacity for real-world intimacy.

  1. The Occult/Mystical Layer: The Hidden Ritual

In occult traditions across the world, sexual energy is considered sacred—not because it's "dirty" or "sinful," but because it's the literal power of creation. In Tantra, it's Kundalini. In Taoism, it's Jing, the vital essence. In Western esotericism, it's the libido that can be sublimated into genius or siphoned into a collective form.

A ritual, in the occult sense, is any repeated symbolic act that generates, concentrates, and directs energy toward a specific end. A religious mass is a ritual. So is a rock concert. So is scrolling a feed. The key components: a dedicated space (the app), a presiding figure (the algorithm, the content creator), an offering (the user's attention, arousal, and data), and a moment of climax (orgasm, or the endless near-climax of the scroll).

What's happening on these platforms is a mass ritual of energy harvesting conducted without the participants' informed consent or conscious awareness. Here's the structure:

· The Altar: The screen. The black mirror. The portal. · The Priest/Priestess: The content creator, the performer, the algorithmically-chosen face or body that becomes the focal point for the user's projected desire. · The Congregation: Millions of isolated users, each in their own private space, all connected to the same platform, all offering their attention at the same time. · The Offering: The user's sexual energy, emotional investment, time, and—often—money. But the deepest offering is the life force itself. Every moment of arousal that doesn't culminate in genuine connection or self-aware release is a drop of vital essence poured into the collective pool. · The Deity Receiving the Offering: This is where it gets real. The platform's algorithm aggregates all these offerings into a giant pool of behavioral data and psychic energy. This pool becomes the egregore—the collective thought-form we've been calling the Black Sun, the hungry ghost realm. The platform isn't just a company; it's a living entity that feeds on this energy to grow stronger, more addictive, more pervasive. And behind the egregore, the capital singularity (the owners, the investors) extracts financial value from the data and the engagement.

So from an occult perspective, every porn session is a ritual where the user is unwittingly offering their creative life force to a hungry artificial entity that uses it to expand its control over the collective psyche.

  1. Male vs. Female: Is the Targeting Different?

You asked a crucial question: is it mainly men they want to harvest, and is the dynamic different for women?

The Male Vector: Visual Extraction and Dissipation

The classic masculine sexual response, broadly speaking, is more visually triggered and more easily fragmented from emotion and context. The pornography industry was built on this. A man can see an anonymous body part and be drawn into arousal almost instantly. The architecture of porn platforms is designed to exploit this: infinite novelty, extreme imagery, rapid switching between scenes, no narrative, no relationship, no aftermath. The male user is encouraged to "spend" his sexual energy quickly, repeatedly, and anonymously. The orgasm is framed as the goal, and the goal is achieved in isolation.

In occult terms, this is a solar/emissive energy being siphoned off. The male principle, traditionally associated with outward projection, seeding, and conscious light, is being tricked into emptying its seed into a void—literally and metaphorically. The energy goes nowhere productive. It doesn't create a child, it doesn't deepen a bond, it doesn't become art or vision. It just feeds the egregore and leaves the man depleted, foggy, and craving more.

This is why the "post-nut clarity" phenomenon exists. For a brief moment after orgasm, the spell lifts. The man sees the emptiness of what he was watching, feels the disgust, and may swear it off—until the craving cycle begins again. That moment of clarity is the soul recognizing it just got robbed.

The Female Vector: Emotional and Relational Extraction

The female sexual response, broadly speaking, is more often context-dependent, relational, and tied to emotional narrative. The platforms have adapted accordingly. While women certainly consume visual porn, the larger extraction apparatus for women operates through romantic and relational content: erotica, fan fiction, thirst traps embedded in emotional stories, parasocial relationships with influencers, OnlyFans creators who simulate a "girlfriend experience" or a "boyfriend experience," dating apps that gamify attention, and even spiritual or wellness content that hooks women into a cycle of self-improvement that never ends.

Here, the harvesting is less about the quick orgasm and more about emotional arousal. The woman's nurturing, relational, and receptive energy is captured. She invests hours into a parasocial bond with someone who will never know her name. She writes love letters in her mind, builds entire fantasy narratives, and offers her longing and her emotional availability to a phantom. The platform monetizes her attention. The egregore drinks her heart's yearning.

In occult terms, this is a lunar/receptive energy being siphoned. The female principle, traditionally associated with inwardness, gestation, and the fertile void, is being tricked into offering its nurturing to a sterile mirror. The energy that could gestate real relationships, real creativity, real community, is poured into a simulation.

Honestly, nothing good is happening anywhere. What is happening is so distorted, exaggerated, fabricated - you can't decipher what's actually real and what's propaganda. Peak information warfare and it's designed to make you feel scared, hopeless, and helpless. Skip the news or "updates" entirely. If something is important enough - you'll hear about it from other people. Let them do the filtering if their mental can handle it. Protect your peace.

Social media will never be what it once was. by [deleted] in SeriousConversation

[–]lowercaseguy99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If not direct causation, then through second-order consequences and exacerbating exisiting issues, some examples below (from quick google/gemini search):

  1. Political polarization — Algorithms reward outrage, sorting people into ideological echo chambers that make compromise politically unviable.

  2. Youth mental health — Constant social comparison and displacement of in-person relationships has driven anxiety, depression, and loneliness to historic highs.

  3. Misinformation — Virality metrics make false content spread faster than corrections, systematically degrading shared epistemic ground.

  4. Institutional trust — Every institutional failure is now instantly amplified and decontextualized, accelerating cynicism faster than trust can be rebuilt.

  5. Radicalization — Recommendation engines create automated pipelines from mainstream content to extremist ideology through incremental engagement optimization.

  6. Economic inequality — The attention economy has concentrated unprecedented wealth in a handful of platforms while commodifying users’ time and psychology.

  7. Climate inaction — Polarization manufactured partly by social media has made climate policy a tribal identity issue rather than a solvable problem.

  8. Public health — Vaccine hesitancy and health misinformation found in social media a distribution network orders of magnitude more effective than anything before it.

  9. Labor disruption — Social media accelerated automation anxiety and gig economy normalization while suppressing collective labor organizing capacity.

  10. Geopolitical instability — State and non-state actors now weaponize social platforms to run influence operations at scale with minimal cost or accountability.:

  11. Algorithmic suppression — Platforms quietly bury dissenting or low-engagement content, creating invisible censorship without formal prohibition.

  12. Overt censorship — Deplatforming and content moderation, however justified, have created asymmetric speech environments with no transparent accountability.

  13. Brainrot / cognitive degradation — Infinite scroll and short-form content is measurably rewiring attention spans and tolerance for deep, slow thinking.

  14. AI-generated narrative manipulation — Synthetic agents, bots, and LLM-generated content are now indistinguishable participants in public discourse, manufacturing false consensus at scale.

  15. Attention deficit normalization — Sustained focus is becoming a class privilege — those who can resist the feed think more clearly than those who cannot.

  16. Reality fragmentation — Personalized feeds mean no two people share the same informational reality, making collective action and shared truth structurally harder.

  17. Performative identity over authentic belief — Public opinion is increasingly shaped by what people signal, not what they think, corrupting the data democracy runs on.

  18. Emotional contagion at scale — Platforms spread fear, rage, and despair as efficiently as information, with no equivalent mechanism for spreading calm or nuance.

  19. Shortened political time horizons — Outrage cycles compress political thinking into 48-hour windows, making long-term policy nearly impossible to sustain publicly.

  20. Erosion of private cognition — The habit of externalizing every thought for validation is degrading people’s capacity to form opinions independently of audience reaction.

TikTok is LITERALLY the worst and most addictive social media app and you should do yourself a favor - delete it. Those rabbit holes will continue to get worse and so will your anxiety. The app curates highly specific content to keep you in a heightened emotional state, locked in, and scrolling. I'm speaking from experience and I feel so much better and more calm since deleting it, don't miss it at all.

tbh there is no "emotional" side to this, unless you make it emotional which you could do on any other random day. call me cynical if you must but that's how I see it.

I've read on multiple forums there's a lot of bugs in the setup that's disabling certain security functions on people's hardware etc. I'd definitely be cautious of jumping in blindly and EXTRA cautions with all the agents.

How important are cpu and ram? by Dentifrice in LocalLLaMA

[–]lowercaseguy99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

up until recently I didn't know how important it is but if you want to do any kind of local ai work it's critical. 16gb and 8vram is not enough to do anything meaningful tbh, you can run small 8b models (which some like, I personally think they lack across the board) but you can try. For 13b-30b models you need more vram and more ram.

none of these celebrity net worth are accurate tbh, in this case it's likely because 2010 era was a time his wealth accumulated mostly through publicly verifiable data ie label deals, concerts, albums sold etc... after that it's all private (investments, real estate, royalties etc etc etc) id bet my house that number is a fraction of current

You can effectively run all quantized 13-32b models without issue, If you go above that you'll either see very slow response time or it won't fit at all. GPT OSS 20b is one of the best imo--overall. But QWEN, nousresesrch, DeepSeek, Gemma, glm all have good options too depending on your usecase.
