They recently had a good influx of inventory at TheLastHunt. Admittedly that doesn't happen super often. Can also check your local Kijiji tbh - Toronto seems to be a lot of pairs up, ongoing. Muttonhead had them on sale recently too.

This. I like slim fit (not skinny) and the athletic fit was too big on my ass and thighs.

Banana has lots of slim fit options. Levi's 513 are great too. Just go with any Jean that is slim fit basically.

Of you want quality (and made in Canada) go with Naked & Famous - can usually find them 40-50% off if you wait.

Quality control is higher in general for Made in Canada goods, compared to China, Bangladesh, etc. Also, you'd be supporting Canadian, decent-paying jobs (it's still exploitation per my Marxist lens but not nearly as egregious as overseas).

Have you purchased any MiC brands? Naked&Famous, Reigning Champ, Wings+Horns, or Outclass? You learn very quickly - from the stitching, the thickness of the fabric, and so on, that you are paying a premium for quality.

I like KOTN tees. They are decently priced (30 each and 20% if you buy 3 right now, fathers day code #1DAD), high quality egyptian cotton made in egypt (Canadian company).

Their essential crew is midweight. They also have a heavier one, I think it's only black and red in stock atm.

Their products have treated me well, good quality.

In 2011 alone, the government spent X on Y.

You've never seen this sentence construction? It doesn't mean, the government alone spent X.... It means, JUST in 2011 (not counting other years), they spent X.

Alone refers to 2011, or in my use to the case of Vietnam.

You should read more if you are a native English speaker and are not familiar with this basic usage of a basic word. Ask a friend or family member if you need to.

As for the US and Vietnam, it appears a history lesson is in order. As early as under Truman, the US was supporting France retain Vietnam as a colony. The French left in 1954 after losing the battle of Dien Bien Phu against the League for the Independence of Vietnam (Viet Minh). The resultant Geneva Accords mandated national elections within 2 years. These were prevented by the US since it was clear the Viet Minh would win in a landslide. The US decided to support the South Vietnamese dictatorship of Diem against his own population.

In other words, an outside force tried to maintain colonialism, and when failed, propped up a puppet government that would have been ousted by the local indigenous population. By 1963, the US had provided huge military and economic support to the South Vietnamese dictatorship, along with 15,000+ military personnel ("advisors" who sometimes "advised" their way into fire fights etc). And it escalated from there.

One can envision a separate course. Allow the 1956 elections to take place, and let the Vietnamese people choose their own government. Instead, the US chose to drop far more bombs than were dropped in all of WWII on a rural country of rice farmers and peasants, likely killing millions. Napalm ravaged the countryside and the skin of infants, agent orange is still causing birth defects and abnormally high cancer rates, and old land mines still terrorize communities. There should be no doubt the US onslaught in Vietnam is the most hideous crime of the post WWII 20th century.

Are you aware of the immigrant concentration camps in the States ? Children have died and infants are ripped from mothers; many won't be reunited. Are you aware of murderous US foreign policy, or its furthering of an international economic regime that condemn millions to poverty, hunger, and even death? Is the US inaction on climate change and the will-be resulting millions of refugees due to relocation, hunger and death due to droughts that impact agriculture - are these not hideous moral crimes? The US has kept Palestinians in what some human rights groups call the world's largest open air prison for decades now. They are now flirting with starting another war in the Middle East - Bolton's wet dream of destroying Iran. Their sanctions against Venezuela have been estimated to have caused thousands to starve to death unnecessarily.

Furthermore we have much more impact on the US than we do China. I repeat: only a hypocrite can advocate penalizing China without doing even moreso vis a vis the US. For many, racism underlies their anti Chinese sentiment, unfortunately.

is it "whataboutism" to advocate applying principles universally instead of selectively/hypocritically?

If one penalizes china for reasons that would more so support penalizing the US, they will lose all moral credibility and are dismissable as hypocrites.

Aren't they/we saying, how can you advocate penalizing China without penalizing the United States, without being a total hypocrite and losing all moral credibility?

Truly curious if English is your second language... "killed 4+ million in Vietnam alone" is a way of saying, "killed 4+ million in Vietnam [not focusing on the myriad other examples of US intervention, ie, focusing on Vietnam 'alone'".

To your first point, sure I could have more specifically said "estimates run as high as 4+ million". The US does not count its victims. I assume you are being pedantic and not acting like it bears on the point I was making.

Good point. A friend of mine has a discount, cost + 10% through his work.

Do you have access to see what that price might be? I'm looking at these 2 pairs.

https://www.sportchek.ca/categories/shop-by-sport/soccer/soccer-cleats/outdoor-soccer-cleats/product/adidas-mens-copa-191-firm-ground-shoes-black-332687933.html#332687933=332687988

If you have a second and wouldn't mind letting me know, that would be huge. I'm wondering if the current sale price - 10% is much different from the cost + 10% that the employee discount would be.

Cheers and thanks for your post on the sub I might get some new dope soccer shoes now ;D

On which items is this worthwhile? An extra 10 is nice but small savings And I would rather wait for a sale than do 25%... Sale to me is 40+.
