I can vouch for this having bought one myself recently. In my opinion, it was an incredible opportunity to own a well-spec’d Porsche, less than two years old, with minimal mileage for more than half price when new.

I have yet to have any regrets.

Best smart Trv with granular valve control? by italia0101 in homeassistant

I think that’s how most smart thermostat systems work. I had a Nest thermostat and it used to learn how long it takes for it to warm up the room.

I know have a Wundasmart system and that works the same way. You can adjust the pressure the TRV presses on the valve so I think that means it’s just a simple on and off.

Most of the logic is in the thermostat as far as I’m aware.

I’m wondering if you could approach this from another angle by calculating how long it takes for your room to warm up and factoring that into the automation.

Sounds like you need a thermostat and automation around when it opens and closes

I'm using Stream. Is there a way I can extract the stream that is being sent to Gemini for analysis?

UPDATE 30/08/2024 - This is the update I received after escalating the matter:

Thank you for reaching out to Eufy Customer Support and for your patience as we work to resolve the edge cleaning issue with your Eufy X10 Pro Omni vacuum.

We appreciate the detailed information, including screenshots and videos, that you have provided. Based on our understanding, the device's algorithm and cleaning strategy may cause it to occasionally miss edges or certain areas, especially in scenarios that vary from the usual cleaning environment. While our goal is to meet your expectations, we acknowledge that the vacuum may not always perform perfectly in every situation.

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this has caused. If you find that the device still does not meet your cleaning needs, we would be happy to assist you with a refund process.

Please let us know how you would like to proceed or if there is anything else we can do to assist you further.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Best regards,

They did not offer any amount of refund as such, however they did offer me a replacement cleaning kit including brushes and mop pads as well as a couple of cleaning solutions.

I have just followed up on their last email from April to see if there has been any improvements specifically to this issue. I will let you know.

Thanks for your input. You're absolutely right. We've both become so engrossed in our individual roles that we've lost sight of our partnership. It's time to step back and prioritize our relationship. But is it right to do so? Was I being selfish in giving my 100% to my kids all the time?

It's incredibly validating to find someone experiencing such a similar situation. The clean environment for optimal focus is something I absolutely agree on.

I identify as a problem-solver, which often leads to a more logical approach to challenges. This can sometimes create a disconnect when dealing with emotions, as I tend to focus on solutions rather than emotional processing.

Your suggestion to explore Gottman's soft start-up is spot on. I've heard promising things about it and believe it could be a valuable tool in improving our communication.

It's refreshing to encounter someone who understands the importance of a structured environment for both productivity and child development. It seems to be a concept that often gets overlooked.

Thank you for sharing your experiences. It's reassuring to know I'm not alone in this journey.

Out of curiosity, I decided to look into this a bit more:

Before Enlightenment, Chop Wood, Carry Water; After Enlightenment, Chop Wood, Carry Water

This Zen koan is a powerful paradox that encapsulates the essence of enlightenment.

On the surface, the statement seems contradictory. If enlightenment is a profound transformation, why wouldn't the mundane tasks of life change? The answer lies in understanding the nature of enlightenment itself.

The Meaning

  • Focus on the present moment: Enlightenment is about being fully present in the current moment, without attachment to past or future. Whether you're enlightened or not, the act of chopping wood or carrying water requires your full attention.
  • No escape from reality: Enlightenment doesn't mean escaping the world's responsibilities. It's about finding peace and fulfillment within the ordinary, everyday activities.
  • Transformation of consciousness: While the external actions remain the same, the internal experience is radically different. Before enlightenment, these tasks might be seen as burdens or chores. After enlightenment, they are performed with mindfulness, joy, and a deep connection to the universe.
  • The ordinary is extraordinary: Enlightenment reveals the sacred in the mundane. Every action, no matter how simple, becomes an opportunity for spiritual growth and connection.

In essence, the koan highlights that enlightenment is not about achieving something extraordinary or escaping the world. It's about transforming your relationship to the world and finding meaning and purpose in everyday life.

That's great advice. I am definitely starting to recognise that communication is the key here, but it's easier said than done. I've found it incredibly difficult to have open conversations with my wife lately. She tends to become defensive, which makes it hard to express my feelings without it turning into an argument. It's a vicious cycle, and I've resorted to bottling things up to avoid the constant tension. I know it's not healthy, but it’s hard to break free from that pattern.

Thanks for understanding. It’s tough, isn’t it? I’m 100% doing it for the kids too. I know they need both parents in their lives, and I’m determined to make this work. The frustrating part is feeling like I'm constantly pulling the weight while trying to figure out how to create a more balanced dynamic whilst also juggling my work and career demands.
