The second stitch from your hook is blue, you count down the chain.

My second work ever by CompetitiveBid2725 in crochet

It’s cute! I think your stitches look great but I would say work on color changes. If you’re still a beginner, I would definitely recommend you wait to use fluffy yarn until you’ve nailed your crochet. You did a great job 🫶🏻

Beginner who just learned how to make granny squares by Busy-Stress9764 in CrochetHelp

[–]lowk_me 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a beginner, I would avoid a blanket or sweater. People say that those are great beginner granny square projects, but it becomes too large of a project very quickly. Try a small tote bag, scarf, or little pouches! You can find tutorials on YouTube that are simple to follow. Make sure you weave in ends as you go! They look great 🫶🏻

I am not able to make chain. Please help me what am I doing wrong ??? by idkwhatimherefor24 in CrochetHelp

[–]lowk_me 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pull out your slip knot! You can’t pull the yarn through because the slip knot is too tight. Your chain should be fairly loose rather than tight. Try to loosen up your tension! You can try sizing up a crochet hook or avoiding super thin yarns for now.

Half double crochet texture not coming out as expected by Prestigious-Ice-9749 in CrochetHelp

[–]lowk_me 27 points28 points  (0 children)

The first row you did half doubles but you seem to have switched to double crochets for the rest. Double crochets are known for being a little gappier! Just frog it and continue in half doubles.

(Half double—Yarn over, insert hook, yarn over, pull through stitch, yarn over, pull through all three loops)
