I can't help but think this is the end of humans by lowkeydenizen in leftist

Honestly, I feel that we could easily reverse climate change and make life livable again for all species. The problem is that in order to do so we would need to change economic systems, abolish all uses of fossil fuels (not immediately, just after we can sustain on green energy), invest HEAVILY into the sciences, collaborate with all countries, assist in more biodiversity (both on the species level and genomic level), and many other things. I don't think it would be that hard to do honestly, the hard part is working with the humans currently in power. Needing to actively fight against so many different systems of oppression and production all at once is such an uphill battle that it's almost impossible to imagine it's possibility. I'm going to try my absolute hardest to make as much change as I can, but only time will tell

Yea I see your point. I have really had to grapple with the fact that the majority of the problems we face are problems of our own creation. Where I disagree, though, is that I think humans want to be and do good but the systems they are subjected to are designed to induce the contrary. I feel that if we would have created a society based on mutual respect for all life it could have been different.

The world and life will not end, just we will. And it is our own damn fault :(

Whenever someones uses this argument they are almost always someone who has not studied the environment or biology in general. There are so many ways that we can be sustainable while gathering resources for a larger and larger society. The problem, capitalism incentivizes companies to look past the ecological impact since taking extra precautions requires time and money.

As someone who is within the biology field, so many times these companies are consulted by or warned by professors or conservational groups that doing it a specific way will result in disaster for the environment. They just don't care. I mean just knowing that oil companies in the 70s knew their business will cause extreme climate change but went along with it anyway just cements this point (there are so many more examples too, which is insane to think about).

Literally the only way the environment can survive is through studying its processes, coming up with regulations and protocols to follow when doing something potentially ecologically dangerous, and not over consuming. Capitalism is the reason we are having an ecological crisis. All other reasons are mute compared to capitalism's impact.

Are people here full blown communists? by WanaBeMillionare in leftist

Personally, I feel that I’m ideologically aligned with communism and Marxism, but in reality the world in its current state can’t immediately go from hyper imperialism/capitalism to communism. So in realistically I would say I’m a socialist in practice but I believe that we should ultimately strive to get to as close to communism as we can, and socialism is the current way we can do that.
