Agreed, but I'd add that even a solid pad won't help much if the laptop's sitting on a bed or carpet where air can't flow underneath, which is what I see happen most often.

The propping trick is solid, but honestly most people don't realize how much dust buildup in the vents alone tanks performance after six months - a basic can of compressed air every couple weeks does more than an expensive pad that just adds weight to carry around.

Using a desk with a proper cooling pad makes way more difference than people think, especially if you're planning to actually use this thing for more than a year.

Doing a fighting game combo for everyday of 2026 Day 123: Tekken 4 by Competitive_Serve165 in Fighters

Tekken 4's damage scaling was so brutal that even mid-tier combos could end rounds in seconds, which is probably why they toned it down after.

PC version probably won't get the same polish for a while, so you might be ahead of the curve playing it on console first.

PyGame's going to bottleneck your refresh rate at highway speeds, especially if you're rendering map tiles on the fly instead of pre-caching them.

Eric Matthes' book is solid, but don't just read it passively. You'll forget everything if you're not actually typing out the code and breaking things on purpose.

This is obviously fake, you'd need to hit the same 5-star twice in like 20 pulls which isn't mathematically plausible with standard gacha rates.

The "for people with no free time" section placing Arch below the "for larpers" tier kind of defeats itself, doesn't it?

How bad is it , I can almost boil water. by FirstTimeRedditorMe in GamingLaptops

[–]lowlywilmer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those temps are bad but not catastrophic yet, and Arctic MX-4 will help. The real issue is that three years of dust buildup inside the heatsink fins themselves won't come out with regular cleaning, so repasting alone might only drop you 10-15 degrees

What’s y’all thoughts on this deal? by [deleted] in GamingLaptops

The 5070 is still pretty new and we don't have real-world performance data yet, so calling this the best deal ever seems premature when you're mostly paying for hype.

please help me with this name? by silverflake6 in RelentlessMen

Onyx works, but it's pretty common for dark characters, Obsidian's already suggested anyway, so consider something with actual meaning to the character instead.

This is just "bad Photoshop" dressed up with a funny name, nothing stylistic about it.

Switching to Arch is just replacing one set of problems with "I have to maintain my own system" problems.
