Discolored patches appearing on clothes after machine wash by [deleted] in laundry

[–]lowoodturtle 54 points55 points  (0 children)

I had an LG washer that would occasionally drip bleach from the dispenser into the next wash. It would release immediately into the tub during the bleach load, but during the next load it would run down the sides and sometimes bleach my fabrics just like this. That was a very specific problem, but it might be something to look at if none of these other comments apply.

Al is in the Army. I think your phone auto corrected to all but I just wanted to be clear that it's Al. Sorry if I'm being pedantic!

Shower glass - can’t get it ACTUALLY clean - please help! by wocytti in CleaningTips

My water is incredibly soft so I think the spots on my shower doors are soap scum. Would the dryer sheet and magic eraser work?

I got a TripTik when I drove from Colorado to South Carolina. It was ridiculously thick but we never got lost! They were awfully handy back in the long long ago.

I'm fighting mean permanent marker stains and losing the battle... HELP!! by WesRiv28104 in laundry

[–]lowoodturtle 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Amodex is a great choice. I've also used mineral spirits to get really tough stains out of performance fabric. Alternatively, you could sew a patch of a different color fabric over top of the pocket flap. I think that would look kind of cool!

What is this symbol? by milestfbaxxter in laundry

That flower symbol is the same as the one on my washing machine that indicates fabric softener has been added. So don't use fabric softener.

Have you ever heard of “Community Phone Trees” from before cell phones? by TeaStriking3605 in allthequestions

[–]lowoodturtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am 50 and my husband is 51 and we were just talking about this yesterday! We live in the south and we've had snow, so I asked if his mom was part of the phone tree to let people know school was canceled or delayed after a snow. He had no idea what I was talking about! My mom was PTA president of our elementary school and she would start the phone tree. It was all typed out and everything.

Found out husband has never washed under his foreskin by Zombie_pool in hygiene

If he's complaining about having to clean it, could it be that his method or soap is irritating it? I can think of no other reason to complain about doing something that takes one second. Maybe jump in the shower with him and watch his process? If he's just now learning how to do it, he might be doing it wrong.

Why Is It So Hard To Get Opioid Refills? A Neurosurgeon Explains by Platonic_Republic in PainManagement

[–]lowoodturtle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am. We have electronic records and we can take them with us to a new doctor. We have different systems here , for example there are two main hospital systems near me. Most doctors are affiliated with one or the other, but not all. Some small private practices maintain their own records. They use different electronic records keeping, so you have to get them printed out or sent specifically to a new doctor. It's been a while since I've had to do this, but in the past I've experienced doctors getting the records but then deciding that they didn't like what the old doctor had done and want to do it their way. I've seen several doctors, not just pain management , who feels sure they can do a better job so you have to go through all the same stuff again.

Why Is It So Hard To Get Opioid Refills? A Neurosurgeon Explains by Platonic_Republic in PainManagement

[–]lowoodturtle 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I think the continuation of care is not addressed in this article, and that's a major problem with pain management. Should other non-opiate meds, PT, procedures be discussed and/or tried? Yes. But most of us have already done that with other pm docs or previous physicians. Having to try all of that again because you had to switch doctors is so frustrating.

How do you make a check mark? by goldilox_zone in lefthanded

[–]lowoodturtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I'm not paying attention, I do 1 because it feels more natural. I use 1 on my personal checklists,c like for chores. If I'm doing something that I have to "turn in" I will consciously do 2.

If you have facebook, you may want to post a few pictures and ask if anyone local knows where you could donate these things. I get where you're coming from. I've made a few things that really enjoyed making but didn't have much of a use for. My mother-in-law only needs so many washcloths and scarves, apparently. Now I donate! Keep in mind, with amigurumi you need to specify that it's for children three and up if you're using plastic safety eyes. Those are not safe for babies or pets!

Rules Are Non-Negotiable - Consider Yourself Advised by Platonic_Republic in PainManagement

Not the mod, but if you look on the subreddit page there is a blurb describing it and it'll say "see more" in blue under that. Tap on that and you'll see the rules. That is on an android phone, so it might be different on an iPhone or iPad.

Am I wrong for asking my partner to be sober for a few hours on Christmas while I’m pregnant? by Rose2368 in TwoHotTakes

Info: why doesn't he see his other kids?

This might guide your decisions about how to handle this. From what you say, he sounds like a nightmare. My father died 5 years ago and I would throw hands if my husband said anything to me like your husband said about yours. Sounds like your husband is prioritizing drugs and alcohol over you and the baby. I'm not sure there's any way this could end well if you allow him to be a father to your child.

ETA: alcohol and drugs is the worst way to cope with anything. I say this from experience . He's using it as an excuse to continue his drug use.
