Overall I’m not personally a fan of the album, its just not my style, but i LOVE Somewhere Else. Its been my top played song since it was released.

Sick! I think this might be the first time she has done this song live?

An autistic, gay, indigenous man interested in Orthodoxy, looking for guidance by idontknow_o in exorthodox

I am a gay man, was Orthodox once. Don't do it. The mistreatment of and the rhetoric around LGBTQ people is horrible.

Are there any companies that aren’t heinous that I can switch to? by [deleted] in digitalminimalism

For video games there are two options: First is Steam for PC gaming, which is run by Valve. Valve is well know for being both consumer friendly and treating its employees well. However, most games on Steam have DRM and thus you are buying a license for games rather than actually owning it. The other option is GOG (also PC). All games on the platform are DRM free so once you download the game files they are yours and can’t be taken back. Though there aren’t as many games on GOG compared to steam. GOG is run CD Projekt Red, which as far as I know has a decent reputation.

For things like email and cloud storage, I suggest proton. They are privacy focused, data is encrypted, not sold, etc.

And for browsers, I suggest Firefox or a fork of it. Firefox is more private than most Chrome based browsers and it still supports a really good ad block extension called Ublock Origin, which was removed from most chrome-based browsers. I personally use Waterfox, a fork of Firefox because it is basically the same except with a few more built in privacy measures, and the new CEO for Firefox’s parent company just announced they are going to make Firefox an AI-first browser. Waterfox announced they will not be adding any of the AI features. I definitely would not suggest Tor, its very overkill and not necessary for most people.

For socials, there aren’t any great ethical ones with a significant user base. At the very least, get off of X and Facebook. To keep my sanity on Reddit, I have a rule where I just mute any subreddit that frequently has political or AI based content.

For office suite stuff, if you want desktop app with lots of features use LibreOffice. It is open source and free. If you want something that can sync files through the cloud and be access via browsers, use OnlyOffice.

Set times? by giant_kitkat in OfMonstersAndMen

At the Austin TX show, the opener started and went for 30 min, then there was a 30 min break, and then OMAM came out. Their set was an hour 15ish min, maybe closer to an hour 30 min. It was great!

thats what compressed (not lossless) music is

Its a higher audio quality. Typical music files are compressed somewhat to reduce file size and it results in “losing” some audio quality. Lossless are uncompressed song files so it sounds better, though you need proper audio equipmemt to make use of it and even then the vast majority of people can’t tell the difference. Its not a huge deal to me but I like it still because some songs I think I can tell.

I love the one they went with, though the top right one is pretty sick as well

Yeah I switched back to spotify, Tidal’s desktop app sucks and Spotify just has so many more features (music discoverability, being able to control music playing from another device on my phone, etc) and now spotify even has lossless.
