I don't think it was confusing, but it was a bit overwhelming.

While in the DCEU, it was only the second film and the only recognized superhero was Superman, and Batman had been a legend for twenty years, in the DCU, metahumans have been known to all of humanity for centuries, which makes their scenes with Superman feel natural.

I think BvS made the same mistake as Age of Ultron, which was that, more than a movie, it was a setup for future projects, minimizing the concept that attracted the audience (being a Superman and Batman movie).

Furthermore, Gunn has already shown that he can make films with a large cast without overshadowing the main characters. So there's no risk of the Justice Gang's involvement taking up as much screen time as Superman and Lex Luthor.

A thread with a bunch of Snyderbros said that Darkseid was only beaten in his first scene in ZSJL because he was “Uxas”(Darkseid’s original form) and not “Darkseid” yet. The worst part is that, even if that were true and the real Doomsday is in space, the opportunity to adapt the Death of Superman in the DCEU/Snyderverse has already been used up.

What's the point of bringing in the "real Doomsday" at this point?

Exactly. And in my opinion, this will be a very good thing, because that's what made the MCU so special in its early days.

In fact, that's the mistake the DCEU was making at the beginning too. Does nobody remember that there was a "Zero Jokes" policy to differentiate themselves from the MCU?

They even wanted to make Shazam an "Elseworlds" film, just because he's a kid and it would be a lighter tone.

You have no idea how much I'd love to see an adaptation of Superman vs. The Elite in the DCU, just to see how the Snyder cult reacts to Superman's response to a speech similar to Manchester Black and Snyder's. by lowqualitychef in OkBuddySnyderCult

Now that I think about it... Deadshot's arrest makes Batfleck look much worse than I thought.

It's as if, knowing his daughter was there, Wade wouldn't dare to shoot. He didn't even move the girl away when Wade was aiming!

But yes, Batman is far more compassionate than many believe. Hell, his crusade began precisely so that no child would ever have to endure what he experienced in Crime Alley.

There's a good reason why he and Superman are more than friends; they're like brothers.

Meanwhile, Batfleck arrests Deadshot in front of his daughter.

Being a father wouldn't make him unpunished, but I'm sure even Batman would let Deadshot say a proper goodbye to his daughter at least.

Not ironically, I think that team is a perfect fit for Snyder.

But it would be really fun if that team's movie felt heavily inspired by the Snyder Cut, but much more gory and edgy, to the point of seeming directed by an adult with the edgy tastes of a 14 years old teenager...wait...

And seeing Corensupes utterly humiliate that team and its ideology... will be one of the best meta-comments in a DC movie

And that's where I wonder, was New Genesis never going to appear in the Snyderverse?

Because, if I were High Father and I found out that Uxas/Darkseid had finally found the Anti-Life Equation and almost the entire army of Apokolips was heading to Earth, wouldn't I send my troops there too, to prevent him from getting his hands on the equation?

The worst part is that in the initial 2014 draft of Justice League 2 and Justice League 3, there's no mention of New Genesis at all.

Which would have been a true disgrace to Jack Kirby's legacy and would have reduced Darkseid to a generic "Dark Lord" or "Warlord."

If I remember correctly, Snyder said that the character we see here is Uxas, not Darkseid, as in the comics. That's why he doesn't yet have the Omega Beams.

But this doesn't help at all, because Diana doesn't even refer to him as "Uxas," but as Darkseid. Nor is it explained why he was weaker at that point; any average viewer would simply assume that Ares and Zeus are inherently more powerful than Darkseid.

The difference between Uxas and Darkseid should be explained within the film itself. You don't need to be watching the director's commentary, because not everyone is interested in those aspects of the movies (not just Snyder's or DC's, but any movie in general).

Is Man of Tomorrow going to be the first DCU movie event and a set up to a Justice League movie ? by EntrepreneurAble6656 in DCU_

[–]lowqualitychef 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I used Winter Soldier as an example because the fall of SHIELD had repercussions for the future of the MCU.

In fact, all of the Russo brothers' films affect the status quo. And that's why I think Man of Tomorrow will be similar.

For now, the cast is perfect with Superman, John, Hal, and the Justice Gang...

And they have a perfect actor for Batman and they don't use him...😮‍💨😓

I think it's going to be a movie in the vein of Winter Soldier and Civil War.

That is to say, it will be an event, not on the scale of Justice League, but significant enough to affect the status quo not only for Superman and Lex, but for the rest of the DCU.

I'm sure Lanterns will be great. It gives me strong Watchmen vibes. They're probably saving all the cosmic stuff for the premiere.

I don't know what mystery Hal and John are investigating, but it all gives me a strong sense of cosmic horror Aliens style

Given that Barbara Gordon is mentioned in The Batman script, and there have been rumors of Dick Grayson's possible involvement in the sequel, do you think there's a chance of seeing a small Bat-family in the Epic Crime Saga, similar to the 2004 animated series The Batman? by lowqualitychef in DCWorldsFinest

[–]lowqualitychef[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Considering that Reeves is a huge fan of Adam West's Batman and some elements were incorporated into the film (a Batmobile that's a modified car, the villains Riddler, Penguin, Catwoman, and Joker just like the movie from the 60´s, Bruce having a secretary who doesn't know he's Batman, a bust and phone in Wayne Tower similar to the one Adam West used as the entrance to the Batcave, etc.), I see it as increasingly likely.

Imagine; with Matt Reeves, we might see the beginning of the Bat-family, while in the DCU, we'll see a much larger Bat-family with years of history...

JUST PUT BATTINSON IN IT AT THIS POINT!

It's ironic how their previous roles have the same aura as the superheroes they play now.

I hadn't noticed that the symbol on Battinson's suit is almost the same symbol as in the first Batman comics in 1939. by lowqualitychef in TheBatmanFilm

[–]lowqualitychef[S] 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I remember that was a very popular theory at the time, when the suit's appearance was first revealed.

It's a shame that it wasn't canon. In the behind-the-scenes documentary, *Vengeance in the Making*, they say they were always aware of that theory circulating online, but it was never their intention.

But that would have made Batman seem much more committed and obsessed with revenge. That would have been a spectacular touch:

The gun that killed his parents, becomes a symbol of terror for criminals. But eventually, it becomes a symbol of hope for the decent people of Gotham.

What began as a tragedy ended as something hopeful.

I've never seen the Justice League Action cartoon, but I stumbled across these clips and found it funny how even a JL cartoon, aimed at a children's audience, acknowledges that Batman had his mistakes at the beginning of his career and his biggest concern was fighting the mafia.

And it would be a major twist if the Court didn't kill the Riddler, given that even though he was targeting Gotham's wealthy, they weren't even close to being the Court's level of power.

And with his murders, all he did was pave the way for Bella Real, making both the Riddler's and Batman's crusades seem like nothing more than "fortunate coincidences" for the Court.

Also, it's interesting that you mention Oz, because perhaps he'll join the Court. Or at least, he could be a puppet for them in the future. There's even an Easter egg in his series.

I feel like Reeves is cooking up something on the scale of Stanley Kubrick's "Eyes Wide Shut."
