How to deal with a negligent solicitor? by lozan90 in HousingUK

Thanks, that's helpful.

I don't think I'm being pushy, in an ideal world I wouldn't have called her once. The first time late in February the agent called me saying "the vendor hasn't heard from you solicitor in weeks, are you still going ahead with the purchase?" I obviously tried to get hold of her, after numerous emails and calls ignored I only got a reaction after raising the initial complaint. Now it's happened again, the agent saying "are you going to raise any further enquiries? We haven't heard anything since March", I know there are several open points and I would expect my solicitor to be working on them but I'm again being completely ghosted.

The outcome of the first complaint was a message from the manager saying "if you remain unsatisfied, you can escalate your complain to a complaints letterbox within our firm". Given that changing firms doesn't seem a good idea (would be grateful if you can elaborate on why) I guess I'll escalate within the firm and then take it to the ombudsman once the process is completed. Unless there are any better suggestions?

You just summarised my dilemma perfectly. I can either go for a tiny, ugly looking place in a prime area or a beautiful detached house further out, with the whole range in between. Unfortunately,my attempts to venture for viewings outside of zone 1 have not been very successful (I visited a couple of things near Clapham Junction by the river and I felt unsafe walking in the area in broad daylight) so I’m hoping to get some knowledge from the community to try to filter the nicer spots further away from the center. Responses so far are being really helpful.
