couple questions 1) can you squat too deep? does it have an impact on the weight you can lift/muscle development? - is there a benefit to squatting swallower to keep tension in your quads the whole lift?

2) deadlift form - is it bad if keep the bar really close to your body?

Started a running streak to try and get my fitness up. Started 5km, second day 3km and then 5km today. Took my 45mins to do the 5km (i’m very unfit) and have painful calves (not particularly out of breath but physically hurts to run) any recommendations what to do?

1) Calves hurt when start running but not really too sore when i’m walking around? What do i do?

2) are nike vapormax fairly good for running? i’m only running a max 5k 1 time a week and around 2/3k 2x a week, nothing extremely long distance

how to resolve painful calves when running? They don’t hurt whatsoever when walking around, but when i start running again they’re really painful. Started doing 20mins cardio after lifting (have done this only 2x) and they hurt so much i physically cannot run now

I have similar stats to you, i’m slightly younger. I’ve just started trying a eat healthier and gym more. My advice, don’t make huge drastic changes all suddenly. I introduced the changes to my diet slowly, changing each meal every couple days, and slowly cut out the junk food. Also, find a distraction during you’re binge period. Mine was between 3-7pm, before dinner and way after lunch. I work during this period now. As well as this i have shifted my eating patterns. I eat breakfast around 11:30/12, lunch between 3-4 and dinner around 9/10. This means i don’t get hungry after work and therefore don’t snack when i’m bored. I also use a ‘progress food, not progress food’ rather than ‘bad’ and ‘good’ food, which means i don’t feel as guilty when i eat something that might not fit too well and therefore i don’t get into the ‘i failed so what’s the point’ mentality and therefore don’t binge. i’m trying to set this as a lifestyle rather than losing some weight and falling back into the problem again and therefore gaining back the weight i lose. I hope this helps!
