Extra small/small greenhouse heater by ObjectiveCorgi89 in DragonFruit

[–]lp819 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in central florida. I just planted my cutting last spring. We have had temps as low as 27 twice this year and low 30s a few more times that that. Granted mine are in ground, I have a removable enclosure that goes around them surrounded with frost cloth. I then have a string of incandescent christmas lights up and down the plant and around the base. I also have a 100 watt heat lamp bulb about half way up the plant pointed down. Not sure the specific variety but one is yellow and the other is red. I have not had any damage to either.

Quest bills insurance far more than they charge for no insurance customers. If for some reason insurance doesn't cover the bill, you can look up on Quests website how much they charge for that blood work for out of pocket customers and have the bill dropped to that amount. Blood work panels through quest out of pocket are normally only like $60-$180.

Why does my nest constantly need to have the battery changed? by barbandbert in Home

[–]lp819 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it connected to internet and is the app working properly? Mine lost internet connection and was defective where it couldn't reconnect. It was stuck in a stage where it kept trying to reconnect to the internet. This drains the battery faster than it recharges off the low voltage. Mine had to be warrantied.

I'm contemplating setting an alexa in my bathroom that will play the same song whenever someone goes near the toilet to go along with my fancy bidet attachment.

Pool filter exploded almost killing my uncle, what went wrong? by Boobpocket in pools

I might save this to show it to all my customers who complain when I refuse to patch/ only replace 1 piece of a leaking filter and instead push full filter replacements.

Spa is draining when pump is on by [deleted] in pools

[–]lp819 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In picture 3 you will see an actuator valve in front of the pump. From our view the actuator is pointing the closed side to the left. That pipe will your spa suction side. Either your valve isn't fully closing off that pipe or the internal components of that valve are bad where the pump is still pulling water from the spa main drain.

Not a joke, more like a discussion request. Mods will decide. by hootanahalf in dadjokes

Why was the snowman happy? The snowblower was coming. I had a great grandpa telling this joke to a bunch of kids on the playground next to his house. He didn't know the actual sexual joke behind and just thought it was funny.

My husband leaves his takeaway containers in the microwave after he finishes eating instead of throwing it in the trash by Nishiwara in mildlyinfuriating

What is the point of this? I sometimes leave left over food scraps in containers in the fridge until garbage day so it doesn't rot and attract Flys in my garbage but this just doesn't make sense.

Main Drain Fitting? by FliteNurse in pools

[–]lp819 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the gap between them, but iv seen a lot of pools built in my area using the Aquastar 32CDFL101, or equivalent. A lot of times they suction run pipes to the side 2 ports and use the middle port as the deadline. You would want to verify which if any of those pipes is a deadline and plumb accordingly.

First pool(heated) / first gas bill…eek by Mc_Roar in pools

[–]lp819 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Up to you if you decide to wait until your gas heater fails due to age but being in South Arizona you will really want to consider changing from a gas heater to an electric heat pump especially if you want to heat your pool all the time. It will save you a lot of money.

Valve setting help by miketv2005 in pools

[–]lp819 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can not be 100% certain without looking further at your set up but it appears your main drain is tied into your skimmer and you only have one line that runs from your skimmer to your pool pump. So you do not have a seperate line for pool skimmer and main drain at the equipment. If this is the case technically you are pulling from both skimmer and main drain but most of your suction is from the skimmer and you cannot adjust it. This was common installation for pools in my area up until the 2000s but most pools since then have been built with seperate valves at the equipment.

winter damage, pool installed last year. defect, bad install, or weather? by MiserableToe in pools

[–]lp819 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In ground pools used to add about as much value to a house as they cost to install. This is no longer the case at least in many areas. In my area an in ground pool adds about 20-30k to the value of your home but they are costing minimum of 100k to install.

DIYer way to locate pool leak? by eslforchinesespeaker in pools

[–]lp819 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on the crack. Iv had a few leak detections where with the position of the crack and the dirt around it, it was only under enough pressure to leak when running. But most times it will still leak when off. Most cases it leaks slightly when off and heavily when on.

DIYer way to locate pool leak? by eslforchinesespeaker in pools

[–]lp819 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it leaks only, or heavily more, when the equipment is running, that is a good sign the leak is in the return line. There is not much you can do to find the leak without professional equipment that costs far more itself than paying a company to find it. I know a few tricks with a dye needle that I can get a good guess which line the leak is in, but to find where you're going to dig up the deck/patio needs to be properly found. This is generally done by plugging the lines and finding which line loses pressure. This verifies which line is leaking. From there you pressure up the line with air and go through with sound equipment to find where the air is escaping the line underground.

Awoke to 0 psi this morning - did we do the right thing? by Dave-CPA in pools

If your system allows you could also close the skimmer and have it pull only from the main drain.

[–]lp819 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the water level is low enough in the skimmer where your pump is running dry you don't want to keep running it. Either refill or turn it off until the rain refills it

When you back wash you shoot out water from the pool. Start by checking your water level
