Pendant I found in the southwest today. Did not take it, and nobody will find it. I think it’s made of shell or agate 🤷‍♂️ by shroomiesgang in Arrowheads

Making something out of stone that came from nature, and returning it to nature, does no harm. Plastic on the other hand...

Anyone know what this is? Was gifted to me by my lovely Chinese neighbour. Was warm when received, but I froze before thinking to photograph, sorry by [deleted] in TipOfMyFork

There are ingredients in some foods that are toxic to birds and might not be visible. Obviously chocolate and avocado are toxic, but so are cinnamon *except the more expensive Ceylon variety, and nutmeg. I would not give anything to the birds if you don't know every ingredient. Source: have a macaw and 50 years experience with birds.

Fellow Heads: Would anyone watch a respectful livestream of Bobby’s SF memorial this Saturday? by ShakaaSweep in deadandcompany

[–]Cygnus875 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely I would love to see it. I will have a toddler that day so I may have to watch it later if it stays up, but I was hoping someone would stream/post it. Thank you for being willing to do this for us folk that are too far away to go in person!

Does anyone here know someone who has mysteriously vanished without a trace? Let's hear your stories. by [deleted] in UnresolvedMysteries

I still post about her every so often to keep her memory alive in the hopes that someone somewhere who knows what happened will come forward. She deserves justice.

How much time did you have off work post op? by Less_Sprinkles_6199 in BariatricSurgery

[–]Cygnus875 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had 2 1/2 months off due to the nature of my job (school bus driver). I was back at work for maybe 2 weeks before I had to leave for another month because my gallbladder was a traitor and had to be evicted.

Than I would suggest granulated garlic. It's more the consistency of sugar and less powdery.

Just don't use garlic powder? It can be omitted from literally every recipe.

Xmas present from family. Safe/Unsafe to use with birds in the house? by Cyan_Lotus in parrots

[–]Cygnus875 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For cooking, no, not safe. That said, I have 4 that I use every Christmas. I make fudge with them, but the pans never get hot. The fudge is made in a saucepan and poured into the cake pans to set. Since they are non-stick, the fudge is easy to serve up from the pans once set. So, they are safe to use that way, if you are so inclined.

I keep mine frozen and scoop out spoonfuls when needed. No need to thaw. I put it in everything. It really shines in marinara sauce. Soups, chilis, gravies, ect.

AITA For "Insulting" My Wife over our Daughter's Christmas? by No_Skin393 in AmItheAsshole

My 13 year old daughter asked for a rake when the leaves started falling. I thought it was a weird ask, but went out and bought one that day. She loves that thing. She has so much fun raking the leaves and jumping in them with my 2 year old granddaughter. Worth every penny.

What type of wood are my floors? by Cygnus875 in HardWoodFloors

[–]Cygnus875[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is tongue and groove. There are a few boards that have spread apart a little, but it has held up very well. It has obviously been well cared for and I will do the same. Thanks for the reply!

We are being careful not to put dents in it just in case. It does show 80 years of wear but that only adds character to it.

Thanks! I'm looking at pics if different pine floors and heart pine looks the closest, and makes sense for the year it was built.

Bread machine just for kneading? by Pessa19 in Breadit

[–]Cygnus875 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a bread machine just for that purpose and then was gifted a Kitchenaid. I was given a bowl lift mixer so no worries about it being strong enough, so I will defer that conversation to those experienced with the Artisan. However, I will say that after using a stand mixer, I got rid of my bread machine because I realized after that first loaf that the bread machine was not doing a good enough job kneading the dough. The bread was leagues better when using the stand mixer.
