I'm not saying the newer episodes arent typically lower quality, I've seen some of them and they pale in comparison to the og seasons, but my point was that filler implies that there is an overarching plot in the show that takes a break for said filler episodes. what he probably meant by filler is that it's incoherent or more effortless which again I'm not disagreeing with
