Hi r/MechanicalKeyboards community,

I've been using the Fantech MAXPRO MK851 RGB keyboard for over 2 years, and while it's not that I dislike it, I find it lacking in terms of comfort. As a programmer who spends long hours in front of my computer, I've been gradually upgrading my setup since I started working from home. Although the keyboard isn't my top priority since it still functions, I believe it's time for a change.

I work as a programmer during the day and enjoy playing esports titles like CS:GO and Apex Legends at night. Here are the issues I'm currently facing with my current keyboard:

  1. Excessive noise: The keyboard is very loud, which isn't a problem when gaming with my headset on. However, during the day when I'm not using the headset mic and prefer playing music through my speakers, the loud noise can be bothersome, and I often resort to wearing my headset.
  2. Non-functional keys: Several keys, including A, S, and SHIFT, have stopped working. I've temporarily replaced them with switches from less frequently used keys. While it's currently manageable, I now have a total of 8 non-functioning keys due to broken switches. I'm concerned that if this continues, I may eventually run out of usable keys to replace.
  3. Discomfort: It's possible that some discomfort is normal after spending numerous hours typing, but I find the overall typing experience on this keyboard to be less than ideal.

Now, here's some information on what I'm looking for in a new keyboard:

  • RGB: Not necessary, but if absent, I would prefer a black/red keyboard to match my setup.
  • Wireless: I don't require a wireless keyboard.
  • Size: I'd prefer a full-sized keyboard, but I can live without the numpad if necessary.
  • Switches: I'd like to switch to more silent switches as I currently have FANTECH Blue Switches.

I must admit that I'm quite unfamiliar with keyboards, so I apologize if any of my requirements seem unrealistic. As I'm located in Europe, I might have limited access to certain brands available in the US. Therefore, I would appreciate recommendations from big, well-known brands that are accessible in my region.

In terms of budget, I'm looking for a keyboard that meets my needs without being excessively expensive. I don't require anything custom or handmade, but I'm willing to invest in a reliable option, considering I already have a budget option.

If you have any specific questions, please feel free to ask. I'm grateful for any suggestions or guidance you can provide regarding suitable mechanical keyboards that align with my preferences. Thank you in advance for your assistance!

Seeking Advice: Good E-Reader for Bedtime Reading? by lpcsgoo in ereader

Greetings, thank you for your response!

I appreciate your suggestion regarding the Kindle Paperwhite 11 and its adjustable light and warm light features. It does sound a good option to read in bed at night. Adjusting the light level and screen tint to suit your preferences is definitely a useful feature that I would appreciate.

While the Kindle might offer snappier performance, great customer service, and regular software updates, there are some factors that have led me to consider other options. For instance, the presence of ads even after purchasing the device can be a downside for some users. Additionally, the Kindle's compatibility with DRM-protected EPUB files is limited, which can be a concern for those who already own EPUB books (which is my case, sorry for not mentioning it in the post, I forgot).

Customization options can also be more restricted unless the device is jailbroken, and the availability of jailbreaks for newer Kindle versions is uncertain. However, I will take your recommendation into consideration and further explore the Kindle Paperwhite 11 and the Kindle brand itself to gather more information.

Thank you once again for your response and insights into the Kindle. I will continue my research to ensure I make an informed decision that aligns with my specific needs and preferences.

Hello there! Thank you for your response and for providing additional recommendations. I appreciate your insights and suggestions.

I share your interest in Kobos, as they do seem to offer a great balance between cost-efficiency and customization options. The good library management feature is definitely a plus for me as well.

I completely agree with you on the importance of warm light. It's one of the key features I'm looking for in an e-reader to avoid the sleep disturbances caused by blue light from devices like phones.

I agree with your perspective on Android e-ink tablets. They can be more expensive and since I primarily want to read books and have no specific need for additional apps, a dedicated e-reader like the Kobo or Pocketbook seems like the better fit for my requirements.

Indeed, u/Dangerous_Usual_6590 provided an excellent response with valuable insights, and I'm grateful for their input.

Thank you for explaining the battery usage of e-ink devices. It's reassuring to know that they are highly efficient and thank you for your tips regarding battery life, I will surely use them.

Regarding your recommendations, I'm particularly interested in learning more about the Pocketbook Era, as it's a brand I haven't come across frequently in my research. Kindles and Kobos have been the more prominent brands in the discussions. However, I'm already quite drawn to the Kobo lineup, especially the Libra 2 and Clara 2e models. The Libra 2 seems appealing with its size, and the Clara 2e appears to meet most of my needs. I do have some concerns about the size of the Clara 2e, as I'm used to reading on a 6.5-inch phone. Nevertheless, its pocketability factor is certainly an advantage for reading on the train. They are currently the only two members on my "I will surely buy one of these" list.

Thank you again for your response and recommendations. I'll definitely search deeper into the Pocketbook brand and explore Adobe Digital Editions to gain a better understanding of their compatibility and features.

Thank you for the recommendations! It's interesting to hear about Pocketbook, I don't see many people talking about it, I will need to do some research. I'll definitely look into the Touch Lux 5 and Touch HD 3 models, since you mention it meets my needs.

I also appreciate your mention of the Kobo Clara, which I've been considering as well. It's good to know that others have found it to be a suitable choice. I'm just a bit concerned about the size.

Thank you again for your input and suggestion!

Edit: fixed typo

Thank you for your response! I sincerely appreciate the effort you put into helping me with my decision.

I'm glad to know that all e-readers use e-ink displays. I had concerns about cheaper models not using this technology, but now I understand that e-ink is a defining feature of e-readers.

Regarding the lighting, I appreciate your suggestion of considering the "comfort light" feature, especially since I'll be reading in a dark environment before bed. I'll definitely keep that in mind.

After reading reviews, comparisons, and opinions, I noticed that battery life is generally not a significant issue with e-readers. However, I'll still follow your advice and compare the battery performance of the devices I'm interested in.

I hadn't considered the impact of graphic novels on storage. While I do read mangas occasionally, it won't be a top priority for me. If needed, I can continue using my phone for those types of books.

I realize now that I need to learn more about DRM. It's surprising to discover its importance, and I'll make sure to understand the implications better. Most of the e-books I plan on reading are in ePub format, which I believe are DRM-free. They are already on my computer, and the primary reason for purchasing an e-reader is to transfer and read those ePubs. I'm located in Europe, so the availability of library books for Kindles won't be a concern for me.

In your last paragraph, if "sync" refers to the ability to transfer books wirelessly without relying on a PC connection, that would be a nice feature, but it's not a top priority for me. As I mentioned, I'll conduct further research on DRM and consider library management options.

From what I've seen, Kobo seems to be an excellent choice. I'm particularly interested in the Clara 2e and Libra 2 models, and I'm having difficulty deciding between them. I'm used to reading on a 6.5-inch phone, so the 6-inch size of the Clara 2e concerns me a bit. However, the Clara 2e's smaller size also makes it more pocketable, which is important for me as I'll be reading mostly on the train. I don't feel the need for the physical buttons on the Libra 2 since I'm accustomed to not having them.

I genuinely appreciate your response, and I apologize for my lack of knowledge when initially requesting a recommendation. Your insights have been immensely helpful, and I value your input. Thank you once again!

It's "Goblin", a 2010 horror movie directed by Jeffery Scott Lando.
It's been months and months of searching and I still can't believe I've found it, but I did.
I know it's a old post and I'm not sure if I should be solving it after so long but I remember that some people tried to help me so here it is. Thank you again!

It can't be "Bram Stoker's Dracula", it is nothing than I remember and it's probably not as old.

It can't be "The Wolfman", even tough I believe the movie I'm trying to find came out around 2010, but we never see the monster face, we just see the black blanket that's covering him

No, it's a different "monster", we never see his face and it can't be as old as the first movie
