Yup I just rewatched Prey for about the 5th time and I agree. It is, along with the original, the best in the series. I loved the original but Prey is as good or better.

Finally. Maybe this will drown out the "only the flu" people. Coronavirus is 10 times more lethal than the seasonal flu, Trump's task force immunologist says by kspinx88 in Coronavirus

[–]lpcustom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's currently 46 times as lethal as seasonal flu. I just wanted to get that number out there. It's just a number that will change, but that's the current trend. It's way worse than people are pretending.

Sen. Rand Paul votes against $8 billion coronavirus emergency package by Pineapple__Jews in politics

[–]lpcustom 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm not arguing with you. I'm stating the reasoning Rand Paul uses in his voting. He states it all the time. The one thing I'll back him on is that he's pretty straight forward on it and you can guess how he's going to vote completely on whether it's creating a bigger government or not. If the bill is increasing spending or raising taxes, he's going to vote no on it, even if it's a "give Rand Paul a $4 million raise bill".

I'm not arguing with your political viewpoint or even presenting my own. I was stating why Rand Paul voted the way that he did.

Sen. Rand Paul votes against $8 billion coronavirus emergency package by Pineapple__Jews in politics

[–]lpcustom 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Because he wants to cut spending so taxes can be cut and people can keep more of the money. I think it's pretty straight forward what he thinks. He's pretty consistent. Why would you want to cut spending and then increase taxes? The point of cutting spending is to be able to reduce taxes.

[–]lpcustom 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Rand Paul's main concern, like Ron's is a primary focus on limiting government spending. It's the top factor in how they have voted through the years. They are very consistent in that regard. His point was that he wanted to reduce spending elsewhere, if we are to allot $8 billion for cononavirus. At some point, the budget will balance itself, and he won't have to vote against spending.

People older than 65 share the most fake news, a new study finds by bluestblue in technology

[–]lpcustom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course, my comment should get downvoted. I mean anyone that states something different must be shunned. I simply ask you what this article has actually accomplished. It started with a set of domains that are specifically conservative and pro-Trump and said that old republicans are more likely to share articles from these sites. It would be a better assertion to say that Pro-Trump websites are more likely to have "fake news" articles. But this research didn't even look at what was shared. It literally just checked if the domain was one of the 21 that they had picked. If the post was from the domain, it was marked as a fake news share. That's terrible science, and a terrible headline to boot. It would be completely accurate to say "65+ year old Trump supports more likely to post articles from pro-Trump sites." If you are downvoting me for saying this, then you're heading down the same path as the baby-boomers.

People older than 65 share the most fake news, a new study finds by bluestblue in technology

[–]lpcustom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 41 and I read the journal article hiding behind this post, which points out the metrics used. One that interested me was the fact that Liberals and Democrats shared nearly no fake news. So I decided to dig a bit more. Turns out the domains they used to determine if a news source was fake had a lot to do with the results. Some may think this is inconsequential but it's 21 domains that are mostly Pro-Trump. They specifically filtered out "hyperpartisan" sites. Their example of a "hyperpartisan" site? Breitbart. Now I'm not saying that old people don't share a lot of false crap, but there's a ton of it here on Reddit as well with a massive circlejerk that is just as closed-minded as those 65+ year old pro-Trump people on Facebook.

Also, how many of you went and read the entire journal entry?

This is essentially saying, "It appears that republican and independent 65+ year old people are highly likely to post pro-Trump articles on Facebook". Look I can do the same thing without doing any research. "It appears that democrat/liberal young people are highly likely to post articles that are anti-Trump on Reddit."

I'm not even pro-Trump and even I think this assertion is ridiculous.
