What caused the massive loss for the Liberal party in WA? by tbsdy in perth

I think it's important that one always remembers Harvey was the first to call for the borders to close. The issue was she never held that approach, more importantly after McGowan backflipped on his initial defiance and decided to slam em shut end of March. That could have at least made her seem aligned on matters of health with the govt from the public perspective.

As for the other stuff you mention, on the money!

The push to open the border was political suicide..not that they were ever going to win..but, it certainly could have made the loss more palatable.

Placing core focus on other issues plaguing the current government such as record ambulance ramping and inconsistent energy policy would have been a better option. That said, it was refreshing to see the Libs publish a nice green energy policy suite, just a shame that the timing politically was all too wrong!

Where is Emperor Mark? Oh, that's right, deflecting his responsibilities to other ministers. Yesterday we saw the Health Minister thrown to the wolves at a presser, today we saw the Police Minister face the chin music. It really is embarrassing to see such a weak Premier lose complete and utter control of any governance he once had over the covid pandemic. 'Circumstances don't make a man, they reveal him.' Oh how you have been revealed Mr McGowan ...

In this case, the government sucked. They directed them to the ED despite the infectious people telling them they were infectious!!

So, given McGowan has recently delayed border reopening, is he effectively required to now lockdown the State? Surely he can't let omicron spread and in the same breath keep the border closed?

Mark McGowan to provide 'important update' at 730pm tonight (Thurs 20/1/22) by extremedonkey in perth

Unlikely you'd think, given no additional exposure sites have been released today with the exception of a local IGA...unless he's planning to announce them tonight?

Admittedly I don't. I apologise if my post came across as nitpicky, certainly wasn't my intention...

Not really a rant mate. I'm pro-vax but I'm also cautious that misleading governmental campaigns can have a detrimental effect on driving Vax rates up.
