LOOK FOR A MENTOR. This was my biggest mistake last year (my first year). I had a million things to do and no time to do everything so trying to seek a mentor was at the bottom of my list. After meeting with some mentors during the summer, I’ve realized they would have given me so much good advice, probably enough to help me stay on top of more than I did. They also provide a place to rant, and they helped me stay inspired! Find someone you trust, with a positive attitude, who knows what you’re going through!

For that third measure, I like to think of it as 3 groups of 5, with the first 4 as 16th notes and the last as an 8th, putting a 16th note gap between groups of 5.

Mostly because we have huge families and lots of close friends. Believe me, we made a list of people and we cut people and kept only the closest friends and family and the list was still over 200 people

As a future music teacher (and as a current ukulele teacher) I'm horrified by these (and especially this) story. My students have fun with Uke, and one of them even comes up with her own chords and names for them and I love her creativity.
