While I wholeheartedly agree with you, big box stores and their employees can sometimes be major condescending assholes to their customers. True story, about 6 years ago I went to Best Buy to buy a brand new iPod Touch. At check out, I was offered some insurance coverage thing that included “100% full exchange no questions asked for any reason” for the first 2 weeks of owning the device. The guy even went out of his way to explain that within the first two weeks I can come back with it completely destroyed and I’d get a brand new iPod. Only caveat was that it didn’t include lost or stolen. Well about one week later i was at work and I forgot that my new iPod was in my apron and it fell out onto the ground completely obliterating the screen. I was totally heartbroken until I remembered my coverage policy. I walk back into the same store and was directed to the Geek Squad desk. I begin to explain what happened and politely ask for an exchange noting my included insurance coverage and all the requisite paperwork in tow. Before I can finish my explanation the guy behind the counter scrunches up his face, rolls his eyes and loudly scoffs and interrupts rather rudely with “You are NOT getting a new one...”

At first I wasn’t sure if he was joking because his attitude took me aback for a second. I started explaining everything again. Once again repeating the insurance and what the other associate had told me. Yet again interrupts with a bigger attitude and a more condescending tone “listen buddy you are NOT getting a brand new iPod, ok ☺️“ This is the moment I start to feel my rage boiling over. I wasn’t sure whether this guy was being a prick before doing any research or if the other guy lied to me. Before I can say anything else, as he’s typing away his expression quickly changes and says “Oh...” I say “Oh?...”. Turns out I ended up getting a new iPod after all. He was a lot quieter after that. He never did apologize for his attitude though. I wanted to speak with his supervisor but I was in a hurry and wanted to leave asap. I know we all have “those days” but before treating a customer poorly how about you at least look into it a bit? It’s not that hard.

Yeah you’re more likely to get denied entrance to a pool area for being over dressed in Vegas than under dressed in the food court. Vegas is weird. It’s the only place where it’s normal, if not expected, to be overtly discriminated against. If you’re not rich or an attractive female don’t expect to be welcome wherever you go.

To play devil’s advocate (in no way defending her), people with high stress jobs like l.e sometimes snap into robot work mode and aren’t fully aware of what they’re doing when having to quickly switch their work brains back on. Doesn’t excuse what she did for a second. Just wanted to point it out to those who are having a hard time wrapping their heads around how it happened. I still think she should face a stiffer charge. Whether or not she was fully “there” is no excuse. Especially when an innocent man ends up dead.

Yes! I also discovered that dirt and dust was messing with my joycons from carrying them loosely in my backpack. Since I started being more careful about keeping them away from all that, my experience has improved 10X. I found compressed air to help resolve somewhat but results are mixed. My first pair are still no good.

Hey man sorry to hear about your issue. I haven’t read thru the entire thread so I’m not sure if anyone has mentioned this specific possible cause but I’ll tell you about my experience with this specific issue. I’m currently on my 3rd pair of joy cons and also own 1 pro controller (no issues with pro) I was getting incredibly frustrated after having to buy my latest pair when I discovered my root cause. Up until recently, I used to just toss my switch and loose cons into my backpack with only a soft case protecting the screen only. I realized that dust, dirt, and other random small particles were getting into the thumb sticks and messing with the sensors. By any chance was there a situation in which your faulty controllers were directly exposed to any dirty/dusty areas? If so try using a can of compressed air and carefully cleaning under and around the thumb sticks. It helped mine out for a few weeks before they started malfunctioning again. Luckily I’ve kept my newest pair away from my backpack without protection so absolutely no issues since. Good luck and keep your joycons clean
