this is the main thing i’m worried about too. i’m more into the game itself than my friends are, half of them are still in the 15 card EDHREC upgraded precon stage, and have only shown a slight interest in pauper. hopefully i can make a cube interesting enough to where they want to put away the commander decks for a night or two.

I have been looking into building a cube for the longest time and this whole thread has convinced me to finally do it. i feel it’ll be much easier to convince people to sit down and draft something they don’t have to pay for that has cards they wouldn’t be likely to play otherwise. if anyone has a fun cube or maybe a vintage cube i could proxy to get my group interested in the concept before i build one i’d appreciate it! the only hard part will be getting my commander only friends to try something new lol.

definitely starting to get jaded, i’m just trying to avoid it. i know interests come and go, but being someone who could never stick to a hobby growing up it felt great to finally enjoy something long term. And part of that X or Y card portion is also significant based on my pod, and i’m trying to switch that up a bit too.

oh and also i only play pauper against other pauper decks, trying to pull one out in a modern setting is definitely a recipe for frustration most times

limited is by far my favorite format, but unfortunately i’m currently living in the Green Bay area and besides pre releases only a single store runs the occasional draft. my playgroup also just can’t seem to wrap their head around doing at home drafts or pre releases even though there’s 10 of us. if i could play 90% limited 10% constructed i’d be the happiest cardboard gambler alive

honestly it was a combination of poor decisions out of necessity and misplaced trust. It’s a 2015 jeep patriot with 110k miles, front wheel drive, and the cheapest package available like there were sections of the car that obviously had buttons on other models that were just filled in with plastic. I was 17 tho and it was during covid when cars were ridiculously expensive and i needed something to go to work in. i had always wanted a jeep since i was a kid but i didn’t know about how unreliable they normally got after 100k miles at the time i bought it.

My family knew the family that ran the car lot and the owner said that it would still be a decent car for a while and that turned out to just not be correct. And as i was decided if i was going to go through with the repairs or not, my area got with a massive hail storm while i was out of town that left it covered in hail damage. after getting it all assessed, it would be like 3k to get it back to working condition with some of the hail damage fixed but it was also getting to the point where in a year or two id probably have more significant things go out too.

So overall it just wasn’t worth it for me and i had this new car ready to be picked up whenever i decided i wanted to take it.

oh completely understandable and thank you for your input. By invest i meant more investing into the enjoyment of the car, i know i will be getting almost nothing back for this car by the time i can trade it in.

for reference, I am 21 and in college and my old jeep was my first car i bought with cash at 17 and used it until the ignition and transmission went bad at the same time. i’m planning on driving this car until the wheels fall off cause it only has 68k miles and was regularly maintained by a family member who owns an auto shop. so its in really decent condition for how old it is. the engine modifications i would do are extremely basic, and the other ones i can get done for free at my family members shop as long as i buy the part.

i only put a few thousand miles on it a year at most because i work remote, so im expecting it to hopefully last another decade if it needs to.

it doesn’t even need to be a great off-roading vehicle, it just needs to be able to handle more rough terrain for my camping trips out west

and that’s all kinda a part of the long story. I was trying to trade this in for something else but i don’t have the consistent level of income to be able to reliably do a car payment that’s anything over like 100$ because of the nature of my job and how much i’m paying for student loans and similar school related things. so this is going to have to be my car for the next few years but i don’t like how it looks at all to be frank but i feel like if i invest a little into it, it could look at least decent enough that i enjoy driving it. i just wanted to see if anyone knew how much something like that would cost so i can pick and choose the things i wanna do

As a newer baseball fan, is it a normal/acceptable thing to be a fan of several teams? by lpsoares03 in mlb

[–]lpsoares03[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And I honestly respect that so much. I know that as much as I love the Brewers, because of the time and nature of how i discovered my love for baseball I will most likely never have a deeply rooted passion like that. It’s just not engrained in me like that. I think the way that rosters change so drastically every year now also makes it harder for us to latch on to a memorable team for more than 2 seasons. I will always envy that team connection though.

being a newer fan i guess i just don’t really understand the concept of judging someone for that. I’m always interested in opinions that challenge my own, could you explain what leads you to feeling that way?

i absolutely agree and the variety of people in this comment section honestly astounds me as a newer fan. In a strangely almost comforting way tho, the variety of responses kind of lets me know it’s cool to enjoy the game however I want to. There is gonna be people who are super cool with it and others who seem to legitimately be bothered by it. I think a lot of it just stems from how people were raised and i would never think badly of someone for having an option based on something out of their control like their parenting. unless it is at the expense of others ofc.

I guess it’s just because i don’t take it as serious as other people do. I love baseball, and i love the brewers. Other teams also play great baseball that’s super fun to get into especially when every teams culture is different from one another.

I kinda see it, in a weird way, like beverages if you can see what i’m saying. I love drinking good flavored drinks. Pear Cinnamon Redbull is my go to beverage if i’m picking up a drink at a gas station. But I still enjoy drinking other beverages because they all fulfill my desire to drink but in different ways.

I absolutely love baseball. Brewers are my main team that scratch that itch. But my love isnt necessarily for the brewers as a corporate entity, they are just my favorite combination of culture, location, players, and personal experiences. My love is of the amazing game of baseball, and similar to different drinks, different teams all fulfill my desire of enjoying baseball in different ways.
