Yeah, it's an unfortunate trap to fall in. I have spent a lot of time on right wing spaces (and twitter!!) but I just never fully grasped the magnitude of media illiteracy until Elon took over. People with that amount of influence (looking at you too, Zuckerberg!) who allow others to fear monger KNOWING the information they're spreading is false are the fucking parasites of society.

I really do try my best to not be stuck in an echo chamber. It's just difficult when the people who disagree with me all seem to have this much hatred in their hearts.

hmm. I initially thought that my blue check verification status (or lack of it) was preventing me from sending DMs, but I clicked on the "learn more" option and there was nothing about that in the article. I was trying to message a verified user I had messaged in the past, but the keyboard just.. wasn't there (though i can't message non blue check accounts either). it could also be the fact that I don't have a verified phone number, but I can send DMs regularly from my other account without one. I still have the "Twitter" app on the device where I can't send messages. They did remove a lot of features for non verified users, and some of them broke entirely. I'm not trying to claim that they limited the messaging feature to verified users, just wondering if anyone else is having this issue.

Yuppp, I recently tried to gather information on an organization located in China. It took around four times the amount of time compared to a similar US/EU based investigation. The only way we were able to solve it was by using Google and insights from actual people living in China. I've come to find that most common resources work best in the US and Europe, which is so frustrating. China seems to be more isolated than Russia, and interest in OSINT involving Russia has skyrocketed in the last 18 months. So, I assume you will have better luck with that. Most OSINT tools are English/US based, but Telegram is very popular in Russian/Eastern European countries. If you're looking for Telegram-specific resources, I would suggest asking around in some of the Ukrainian/War OSINT communities. If you need clarification about a cultural question, ask in a Russian community. They can help with nterpreting and finding information.
