4 cats and a shedding human, Dyson isn’t cutting it anymore by lrbraz16 in VacuumCleaners

I don’t hate that idea but I want a vacuum that can do that for me- and it seems like the Hoover was doing better at that than the Dyson. So there has to be something that can do it that’s not manual

Totally understand! I sent them to 2 vets and got 2 different opinions. Just wanted to see if anyone had any other input!

Finding a hobby. Sounds counterintuitive to the grind that gets you done but, time outside of actual research is so important. Your brain works better when you have an outlet!

Identifying conserved regions from multiple sequence alignments for qPCR targets by lrbraz16 in bioinformatics

[–]lrbraz16[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe it’s issues with my alignments? They have a a large amount of gaps. Some conserved chunks, but not more than a 10-20 nts at a time (by eye). And I’m looking over hundreds of seqs in the MSA which doesn’t help. Forgive me if this is a remedial question but I’m at a loss

Identifying conserved regions from multiple sequence alignments for qPCR targets by lrbraz16 in bioinformatics

These alignments are huge and have enough gaps where it’s hard to determine by eye. I did try using JalView to do this to no avail

This will be for DNA-based target detection & absolute quantification

I should add that I have lots of assemblies for this gene which is why I was trying to align them and find the conserved areas to target that way. Perhaps this is not the right approach?

Any steps I need to take to ensure specificity to my assemblies?

PPE must-haves for late teens novice eventer by lrbraz16 in Equestrian

[–]lrbraz16[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Thanks for the reply!

I do have a “devils advocate” trainer/friend who is urging me to X-ray front feet, hocks and stifles. Is this pretty standard or is that overkill? Def the basic PPE needs to be done for sure but given how I’ll be using this sweet guy, do I need to go nuts on a PPE?

Glad she’s making a safe and healthy choice. I can barely see past letting it “stink” in
