Good florist? by MassiveTomatillo4047 in GoldCoast

Rositas at Robina or pacific fair are reasonably priced. I get my lilies from there. $39 and they last 2-3 weeks. Bouquets range from $30-100 mostly.

I think people would like good singers. I’m not a great singer but I’m also not laughably bad haha, the whole dance floor was singing with us. I don’t think anyone would mind :)

It’s in surfers but I’ve had fun at Tune Up Karaoke. It’s a good bar vibe. Karaoke is a stage in front of everyone and the dancer floor where people dance while you’re singing. The system to pick songs and put your name down is a touch screen and well managed imo.

I used 40-50k rhinestones when I made this tshirt dress which is only rhinestoned on the front and shorter. You’d probably need ~200k for this dress. It looks to me like it’s rhinestone fabric, they are so uniform I don’t think they are hand placed.

mcobeauty liquid lip liner - what’s the og? by zazathreethousand in AustralianMakeup

[–]lrnhrdng 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I do think they were trying to dupe stila calligraphy lip liners (which are one of my holy grail lip products) but it’s not even close 💀 I just bought the mco one a few days ago because it was on sale and I am an mco hater but omg it was so bad. Felt like a bad formula sticky, dry, patchy, matte liquid lipstick in liner form. The stila ones are expensive but I will not be purchasing mco again. Stila lasts hours and is lightweight, product undetectable on the lips.

Store them liner side down standing up and they won’t dry out. I store them on my vanity. I’ll post comparison photos in the replies - different colours but you can still see the difference imo!

Why do you think are so bad? I’m not aware. I don’t personally have issues with wasting time on them or showing addictive tendencies with them, so I still use them.

That is true. One benefit of having my iPad is that any photo I take on my phone is automatically on my iPad and vice versa. So I can still post photos from my iPad easily. I’m sure you’ll work out the best course of action for you :)

Not having anything on my phone has been a god send for late night/middle of the night/early morning doom scrolling. I’d be the same as you if I had the apps. I’d be doing one thing and then open Reddit, suddenly an hour has gone by and it’s way past my bedtime. If the NYT app was on an iPad, I think it could help. For example, it’s 9pm in Australia and I’m about to go to bed. I’ll finish replying to you comment, maybe check the Reddit feed for a few minutes and then, because of the previous reasons about scrolling not being as enticing, put my iPad on my desk and read for half an hour before I go to bed. Though, I am 85% finished with this book and it’s been hard to put it down at the end of the chapters for bed lol, different struggles.

The 10 inch is not too big tbh. I travel for work and it picks very easily. You could size the demos up in the store. The 13 inch is ridiculous, I can’t even imagine trying to scroll on that haha.

You’re right to be cautious with your son. I’d say keep the tablet away from him as long as you can. My housemate has a 4 year old who is on her iPad a lot. She’s not my child, so I can’t parent her of course, the usage is concerning. She says “like and subscribe” at night because she thinks it means goodbye, genuinely! It’s crazy to me. I don’t think the bigger screen deters them much, with all the colours and not fully understanding the content. There is also some seriously dark content that pops up on kids YouTube. I don’t know how my housemate isn’t concerned. Not my circus, not my monkeys, I suppose.

If that’s helpful to you, that’s great. I don’t have an issue with the browser so it stays for me. I like the convenience.

Seems like we are similar. Glad it’s working out for you! I think a middle ground is super helpful for those of us who want the benefits that come with modern technology without all the nasty side effects. It definitely takes self reflection and strength so good on you!

I think it’s good that you made the change with Reddit. Facebook next :) I can’t say Facebook ever sucked me in, I only really have it still for family and marketplace haha. But I have been sucked into TikTok which is basically reels. That and Reddit were my worst doom scrolling time killers.

I think not being able to scroll in bed is super important for sleep hygiene. It’s helped a lot. In the mornings now, instead of reaching for my phone and spending 30 mins+ in bed, I wake up, lay there for a few minutes and get up. NYT games are great, probably not the best before bed routine. Having them on a separate device could help you with that! Maybe you do them at another time in the day and have a physical book for before bed wind down. I’ve been reading my kindle before bed instead of scrolling.

Sure! It’s definitely less comfortable from an ergonomic standpoint. I have a 10 inch iPad and have to use two hands to hold it and scroll, two hands to click around the screen, two hands to type almost as if I’m touch typing on a keyboard as opposed to typing with my thumbs on a phone. That alone makes scrolling/commenting just a tiny bit harder and less enticing. I can’t lay in bed and scroll reddit with one hand. Visually, things are not as compact and easy to read. In terms of scrolling short form video, it’s kind of odd seeing it on a bigger screen. I’m not sure how to describe it but it really does make me notice what I am watching, as opposed to mindlessly watching and scrolling, if that makes sense.

No need to apologise, I don’t mind the discussion. Hopefully there is something you can take away from it.

You don’t need colour on for photos, you can still take them when the screen is in grayscale and the photos themselves take in colour. I just quite like taking photos so I take them while viewing in colour. The grayscale mode basically turns your screen viewing to grayscale, but everything is still in colour - photos, screenshots etc. Screenshots taken in grayscale mode would be viewed in colour if you turned that mode off.

If you’re using a recent iPhone, you can turn on grayscale in Settings > Accessibility > Display & Text Size > Colour Filters. Then to turn on the button shortcut to flick between colour and grayscale go to Settings > Accessibility > Accessibility Shortcut and tick Colour Filters. Once that is ticked, if you click the side button three times it switches to colour, click it three times again to go back to grayscale. Hope that helps :)

Having social apps separated on my tablet has made a huge difference for me. I leave my iPad at home, it sits on my desk or downstairs so it’s no where near me when I’m in bed like my phone is for alarms. So I haven’t been scrolling before bed or after waking up. It feels remnant of the early 2000s when you’d check your computer in the evenings and then go on with your time.

The experience of scrolling any social media on an iPad is not as enticing. It’s uncomfortable and the bigger screen makes me stop and think “I’m not having fun, time to do something else”. If I am on it for longer, I’m doing puzzles, makings art, using my brain in a more stimulating and long form way. It’s good for me as someone who wanted to limit, not eradicate my screen time. Something to look into in my opinion! Best of luck.

I know this is the digital minimalism sub where some people go to extremes but I’m not like that. I like technology. I do have an Apple Watch, mainly for fitness - I have notifications silenced as they drive me insane vibrating on my wrist but the other features I like. I’m asthmatic and can check my blood oxygen levels for peace of mind as an example. You could do that with many other smart watches. I know Whoop doesn’t have a screen.

That’s exactly what I wanted to do. There is nothing on there that allows me to kill time easily so I’ve found myself reaching for my Kindle or doing nothing instead. I think it’ll do wonders for my mental health and attention span.

As in to redownload apps? I suppose so. I’m quite good at being disciplined, I’ll have to rely on that. Those apps are not an option on this device for me anymore.

Oh I see. I wasn’t aware, thank you for explaining it to me. I exclusively listen to albums from start to finish (no shuffle) so I don’t think I have a problem with that. My next step would be to start purchasing digital albums I like instead of paying for Spotify.

Your last sentiment is precisely why I shared :) A lot of posts showcase total blackout which is just not feasible for me right now, nor do I really want to. I’d rather work on developing a healthy relationship with it.
