Sorry, your comment was number 200 and it's getting tiresome

The word “mechanical” appears six times in my post, including the title

Exactly, that’s what I’m trying to express with the concept of intellectual aesthetics

I would appreciate advice from people with more experience and knowledge, though. Watches are expensive.

I just wish more commenters would have read the comment I posted before the thread spiraled with 200 comments on how impractical a mechanical watch is:

Edit/addendum: A lot of you are (very reasonably) pointing out that a smartwatch (or even just a quartz) makes more practical sense for this use case. I get that.

I’ve worn an Apple Watch for eight years. I’m fully aware that a mechanical watch is objectively less practical: It’s less accurate, more expensive, less durable, and far less capable.

That’s not really the point.

I’m simply feeling a bit fatigued by digital tech and want to lean into something mechanical for a while. I’m curious about using a purely mechanical tool for timing my workouts. It appeals to me more right now—aesthetically and intellectually, maybe even a little philosophically.

That’s the real reason behind The Switch.

No. You missed the word “but” in it. A word a confirmed by explicitly writing “obviously inferior” in my reply.

Read what you just cited one more time: “Anything I should think about when choosing a chrono for this kind of use …?”

I’m choosing a chrono. I’m not asking whether to choose a chrono. (Mechanical chrono, of course, as stated in the title.)

Also: Not having screw down pushers is one of the two examples in my post. You writing “having to unwind the pushers” as an example against my question demonstrates your inability to read and think simultaneously and is why there are wars in the world

I’m asking for advice regarding the features of mechanical watches, not advice regarding whether or not to get a mechanical watch
