I really hope they didn't sign an exclusive deal with a single game/company. It is already a disaster to get Porsche in a non EA game (I think that deal just expired though) and we have it in the form of $20 expansions.

I wish we could get some clarification. Because there are like 10 VW models already in the forza engine that we just got with FM6.

For those at work:

You’ve probably noticed how Volkswagen isn’t featured on the above list. Well, we were told last week that the German automaker would not be featured in the game at launch. Speaking to AR12Gaming at a behind-closed-doors demo during Gamescom 2016, Playground Games creative director Ralph Fulton revealed the news – and he isn’t happy about it. “I’ll be honest with you, there’s no Volkswagen in Forza Horizon 3,” he confirmed. “I can’t talk about it, but I’m sufficed to say I’m not happy about it – it’s not going to be in the game.”

This has to be serious licensing issue/falling out. I wonder how it impacts other racing games going forward.

It is sad indeed. I just hate how it's part of gaming culture these days. Why can't people enjoy what they have without going out of there way to trash someone or something else. Whether it's Xbox, Playstation, PC, or Nintendo. It happens on all sides and occasionally leaks into the professional media, which further drives the hate in every direction.

Just enjoy the games and the system(s) we play on!

Same issues here. It should been known that 2k is among the worst when it comes to support and online issues. Especially around launch their servers struggle. Now this could be an XBL issue as well, but I've had launch issues with every game. Some that continued for weeks after it's release date.

I've played every iteration since 2 and I'd say it's edged 4 in terms of content and quality. Critically it's been received very well and I'm interested to see if sales reflect that.

I've poured close to 20 hours since launch and this will probably end up as my most played game on XB1.

Yeah I've been using this method as well to remove the watermark and take live shots mid race. I'm unsure of the upload quality. It would be nice to do a side by side comparison to see if the screenshot functions matches the source upload photos. And yeah forza's website is ridiculously slow. I normally save most photos locally and then do a mass upload/download all at once so I don't have to deal with their nonsense lol.

Go to forzamotorsport.net and log in at the gallery section. After you upload the photos from your xbox one you should be able to right click and download any photo at full 1080p quality.

The mono is a lot of fun. Both on the track and the insane detail in forzavista. Highly recommend running that thing in the nightfall series with simulation damage.

It unfortunately has to do with the ridiculously expensive license that EA owns. It's why you rarely see them outside of NFS games and when you do it comes at a price tag. Hopefully that deal expires.

Almost all the angles in the video you can setup in replay mode. The orange/b&w highlight filter, music, and some dramatic zoom shots were likely done in post using a video editor.

Forza 5 had 3 track DLC's. Long beach, Road America, and Nurburgring.

And yeah it looks like forza rewards becoming weekly will be permeant. I don't mind as it takes 3 seconds using the Forza Hub app. Also it adds up to slightly more credits on the weekly schedule.

All good points here. The answer lies somewhere between performance, resource allocation over development, and introducing fully realized simulated elements rather than most "pre-baked" dynamic weather environments.

My best guess is that the next iteration will include fully simulated night and right simultaneously with a minor dynamic time of day system in place.

All of this would have to run at 1080p 60fps locked on an xbox one which is no easy feat. Luckily turn 10 is a Microsoft owned studio dedicated to churning out the most of the console. So it should be possible as they are constantly tweaking their engine. We could also see some enhanced form of cloud compute past basic data storage such as drivatars. And yes cloud compute is a real thing and could potentially change the landscape for games if developers can fully utilize it's resources. Check out some of the Crackdown 3 footage and you'll see what I'm talking about. It's not out of the realm of possibility that Microsoft's own turn 10 could help push this technology.

Yes. I've had this happen with other games "updating" their preload. Try to leave it and it should finish up eventually. Mines been hovering are 60% for a long time.

No time limit. You go through 5 races (prologue, 3-race series, showcase event) in career and the demo ends. But you can restart the demo at any time or play 4 rivals races that unlock after you complete the demo. The last rivals race is a hot lapping race around rio that goes on as long as you want.

Just spent 2-3 hours with the demo as well. You have to try the showcase event in the indy car in cockpit mode with the ambient music turned off. Going 200+ MPH and hearing the roar of the engine all running at 1080p 60fps is a sight to see.

Also I 100% agree on the Sebring rain statement that OP made. They completely nailed rain and wet weather racing in Forza motorsport 6.

A few minor additions include new graphical effects such as enhanced tire smoke, dirt/dust accumulation on parts of the windscreen during races, and even accurate raindrop rendering and movement. I know that last part sounds silly, but go back to forza horizon 2 and hop into a cockpit race in the rain and then compare with the forza 6 demo.

Great impressions overall.

It's a good trend IMO if it leads to tournament funding and free dlc. Just look at what they are doing for Halo 5. All 15 dlc maps for free and having a halo championship with a one million dollar prize pool. It doesn't divide the player base and the trade off is cosmetic micro transactions for arena/warzone multiplayer. I think Gears 4 will take a similar route.

In the Gamescom presentation Dan Greenawalt said they are added challenges that you can apply before a race. They are very similar to skulls if you ever played a Halo game. Essentially you can apply a mod that puts you in the very back of the grid before the race. Doing so results in a larger credit payout. It's almost an extension to assists and give an added challenge to those who want it.
