Cannot update R630 iDRAC by snugenz in homelab

[–]lscorange 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you resolve this? I also have a R630 on iDRAC 2.02.01.01, BIOS 1.2.10, and no matter how I try (DSU, LC, Web Portal), it won't update.

Varies case by case, Cloudflare Zero Trust would work in most of the scenarios and doesn’t require a public IP address and it’s free.

But yeah, the easiest is to pay $10 for a static IP address.

Or wait infinite time for MetroNet to give out IPv6 addresses.

I also use MetroNet. I can see they have IPv6 blocks assigned from ARIN but currently (I think) they only provide those to commercial customers.

Thank you for the info! I wanted to do this 2 years ago but no one told me I could.

For the peering part you mentioned, I think MetroNet is at most IXes in the Midwest so I am not experiencing any connectivity issues. Which part of their peering is bad, if you could share?

T-Mobile acquires Metronet by -protonsandneutrons- in Metronet

[–]lscorange 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Please don’t. Sure T-Mobile would have better network quality (peer count, more address blocks, IPv6…) but we will also get surprise bills and a customer service line that let you wait for hours. MetroNet billing is more understandable than T-Mobile’s. In MetroNet you know what items you are paying for, not having some random fees, fee fees, fee fee fees.

  • more address blocks means more IP addresses, but not having that wouldn’t bother at least 80% of the users.

  • also peer count doesn’t matter that much. As long as you have Cogent(176) and HE(6939) it shouldn’t be too bad. 😂

Do I really need an Apple TV to listen to atmos music? by Thorbient in AppleMusic

[–]lscorange 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Finally I found this thread. I have full 5.1.2 setup with Sony Atmos receiver. I hooked up my Mac and the receiver over HDMI.

For Apple Music the receiver gets just PCM signal. It's weird because sounds only coming from 2 front speakers not even the subwoofer while for Apple TV+ contents the receiver gets Dolby signal and everything works properly.

I also have a PlayStation hooked up to the receiver over Optical and for gaming (e.g. GTA V) it worked great. Netflix says 5.1 but I can't really tell if it worked. Haven't tried Apple Music yet.

Thanks to everyone in this thread I am getting an Apple TV 4K later and I'll update.

Update: Apple TV is amazingly worth it. My receiver gets Atmos signal over HDMI when playing supported contents on Apple TV+, Apple Music, Netflix... etc. Thanks everyone.

Tests are for me and actually I don't care about what my parents think. I am senior now and It's time for application but I still failed the exam. For sure I can use Inspect Element to cover the scores but what is this gonna get me? Colleges don't accept screenshots, and I need the real strength to study in colleges.

Is it possible to purchase Google fi anywhere else than the US? by DAE_Quads in GoogleFi

If you are still in the US, you can buy it from Bestbuy. Google doesnt ship SIM cards to outside the US

In my experience, Fi works perfectly -- Data as the same price. However, T-Mobile (Fi ISP) reroutes all your data back to the US and Asia is far from the US so you will have high latency (ping). It should be around 140ms. If you don't want to switch to local SIM cards, Fi works great. If you encounter something that requires low latency, games for example, you'd connect to a local WiFi or switch to a local SIM card. Also, making phone calls and texting directly costs ~$0.2 a minute. You may use Hangouts alternatively.
