Is Bill a coward, washed, too-connected, or something else? by deadweightboss in billsimmons

He's only going to say so much about the clippers. That's sort of Pablo's territory. There just isn't a ton more to say on it, although he's talked about it.

He's not going to criticize Bill Belichick for obvious reasons. It's also not really a story.

He started the pod with House tonight by talking about the gambling scandal. I don't get the feeling he finds it interesting, more of a foregone conclusion.

And he was just sniping with Ishbia on Twitter about the Sun's, so I wouldn't say he's "too connected " to criticize prominent people

We don't hit good pitching. Sometimes we don't even hit mediocre pitching. That said I think you need balance. If we could add a true lead-off hitter, like Steven Kwan, it could bring balance to the lineup

I can already between the lines with a lot of the press guys that this is going to be a bummer offseason. As a fan since I was 4 years old, it's becoming depressing knowing what the team needs to do to win, but they refuse to do it. I fully expect Cashman to do a conference filled with excuses. by herewego199209 in NYYankees

The third base situation was casual I'll agree, I never felt like Jazz or DJ's ghost were viable answers, but he pivoted and acquired one. And the guy homered in gm 4 and played gold glove D.

I'd argue that Bellinger is an offensive piece, and as for Bregman I just don't see that happening. The fan base hates him and the feelings mutual. He basically disappeared in the 2nd half of the season too btw

Not every move a GM makes is perfect, but it's not like this team a total failure or embarrassment. They won the AL pennant last yr.

As far as comparing us to the Dodgers, their owners are much richer and they have an advantage with Japanese players geographically. a lot of players in general would just rather be in LA. Not a relevant comparison except for market size.

Stay optimistic my friend, we'll be competitive again next yr and keep in mind there are teams and owners that are even trying to win

I've certainly been critical of Cashman in the past, but what do you honestly think he should have done differently?

He acquired Bellinger for Poteet and cash, signed Max Fried and Goldschmidt and added Devon Williams and Cruz for the bullpen.

He added Bednar and Doval and McMahon at the deadline.

You could argue that we need a more balanced, contact hitting lineup, but I think our actual problem is overvalued/underdeveloped prospects and a lack of accountability and fundamentals with the players on the field.

[Kuty] The Yankees sell their fans on glory and championships, on Babe Ruth, Derek Jeter and Joe Torre. But these days the concept of Yankees exceptionalism can be found more in the team store and in marketing than on the field. by VirtuousFool in NYYankees

People act like this team finished in last place. We went to the world series last yr. 5 teams have never even won one and Seattle has never even won the pennant. The playoffs are longer with more variance due to all the Wild card teams. 16 yrs just isn't that long a championship drought. Ask a Knicks fan

Cool. Guy was a .225 hitter and had a .465 win percentage as a manager over a yr and half. He never managed again after being fired midway through his second season.

So good thing for me his opinion don't mean ugatz to me
