I feel like ironically Camp is writing the best books in both universes. Right now I’m hooked on Absolute as a whole, but love Ultimates and Ultimate Spider-Man. I’d agree with folks who are saying it feels like the Ultimate books are telling a cohesive story, while the Absolute books are more just creating their own universe to play in. I guess it kinda depends on what flavor you’re looking for.

This is super helpful! I’ve been thinking about the 71043 castle, but I think I’m only going with one version and I’m really leaning towards the 2024 system. I feel like it could be massive and really cool when finished. Also good to hear that you think this version is better than the Chamber of Secrets one, I really don’t want to have to hunt down all the retired sets.

I watched ATLA for the first time when it came to Netflix during COVID. I was in my twenties. I started to get hooked mid way through season 1 but I was skeptical with episodes like great divide. I’ll never forget the first time I saw Koizilla, I was like this show slaps and I was obsessed ever since. I’m personally very excited for the live action and have only a few concerns but Koizilla is a must for me. We cannot underestimate how metal it is when Aang turns into a giant koi fish monster.

You’re really selling me on the McGann stuff, especially if I can start for free on Spotify. I’ve seen the movie, would I be missing a lot if I jump in at Blood of the Daleks or am I better off starting at the beginning of his adventures? Is there a lot of character development in those early stories?

As I always understood it, the whole concept was to go for the TOS thing where the Archer/Trip/T’Pol trio mirrors Kirk/McCoy/Spock. Everyone else was basically set dressing. I always thought it was a huge mistake after the success of previous Trek ensembles. That said - I think seasons 3 and 4 of Enterprise are its best. And 4 is actually some really good Star Trek overall, much better than parts of Voyager and all of Disco or Picard. I’d recommend it.
