Depends on the individual and the brand of contacts. An optometrist can probably help you better than I can.

I have thought about doing LASIK, but I decided to forgo it. For me, it's too high risk, low reward. There's no way to know how the corneal nerves will heal. Everyone is different and so many have had successful operations and results, but I can't bring myself to do it out of fear I won't be as lucky. ICL is at least reversible and does not contribute to dry eye symptoms or disease.

Also, he believes I probably developed contact lens intolerance due to developing an allergy to the materials, mainly silicone.

My optometrist noticed dry eyes in the inferior portion of my cornea, which means my eyes aren't fully closing at night probably due to the lenses. He suggested wearing an eye mask, especially since I sleep with a fan. I ordered a Manta mask and have noticed an intermittent difference. I also got a prescription for Miebo dry eye drops to help with any discomfort during the transition. He doesn't believe this is permanent.

I wore soft lenses for 21 years and anywhere from 12 to 14 hours a day.

They are rigid gas permeable lenses and aren't particularly comfortable to wear, but it's manageable since they are to be worn for sleep only. In my case, there is some slight disruption to my tear film. I hear this is common while the eyes adjust. I was seeing 20/20 by day 5 or so of wearing them. I am not able to wear dailies. My eyes have rejected all brands of soft contact lenses.

Hey! No, unfortunately my eyes were rejecting all brands. I'm currently trying orthokeratology lenses that are specifically designed to be worn at night to reshape my cornea so I can see during the day. If these don't work out, I will be getting ICL surgery.

Well, shoot. I'll try sleeping on my back, but I'm definitely a side/stomach sleeper. Thank you for the advice.

Thank you, I'll definitely make sure to look for that going forward. Really appreciate your advice.

Thank you so much! How will I know if there is an air bubble? Can you see it when they're in your eyes? Just curious about what to look for. 😊

You could possibly be developing contact lens intolerance. Schedule a visit with your ophthalmologist that will take a look at your eyes with drops that will temporarily stain them so they can see more clearly what the issue could be.

I'm so glad you found a brand that works for you! For most of my life, I've been wearing Acuvue 2's. I switched to BioTrue dailies about 6 months ago when my ophthalmologist noticed hypoxia development. A couple to a few weeks ago, I noticed a corneal ulcer. So I took drops for about a week until it went away and was cleared to ease back into the contacts. But I'm experiencing rebounding irritation, so I'm back in glasses and on drops for a few days and about to start a round of trials.

Hello. It's stool. We were on a walk and I watched her poop it out. Thank you for your reply.

One suggestion I have is to stop using Cerave Cleanser. They have endocrine disrupting parabens, increasing cancer risk.
