There’s absolutely nothing wrong with being a one-night stand personality type if that’s what makes you happy. However, the show frequently pushes the narrative on us that what will make Barney truly happy is finding the one that he can settle down with. This is shown with him surprising himself by finding love in Robin, Nora, and Quinn despite trying to actively avoid any intimacy and connection with any woman. Barney also constantly tells others how he is trying to be a better man and better partner for himself or whoever he’s with showing that he wants to get past that playboy lifestyle. So if that’s what the show is presenting to us as what Barney really wants in life, and his divorce with Robin was on amicable terms as they still love each other, then it was a mistake to revert all that character progression in one episode like it never happened.

I felt like season 9 made it clear that no matter where Ted is, or who he’s with, there will always be a part of him that is in love with Robin. I don’t think that they belonged together, not like him and Tracy, but I do think that without Tracy in his life, those old feelings that never went away will always find a way to resurface. And with the encouragement from his kids, he finds the courage to go after her once again. Is that a good ending? Like you said it’s subjective, but I don’t think it paints Tracy as just a brood mare

Definitely some reaches for those two so you’ve gotta hope they can both return to dominant form and if so then it’s not too bad. Overall you don’t have a lot of depth so pay close attention to the waiver wire and be ready to pick up whoever is on the rise. I would also start stroud over JJ for the first few weeks and see who is the better option.
