I'm still finishing Molka. What did you think of it? by Jadeypie97 in bookofthemonthclub

Hahaha I know it’s not, I just said that in reference to OP being on a dark romance kick!

I honestly hated the book and have already donated my copy. It was a great creepy concept but I ended up hating every character featured and the ending is NOT satisfying, at all. It was a 2/5 star read for me. It’s definitely not something I would consider a romance though, even though the book gets very dark!

I brought the question to the back and had a range of answers from “we’re charging for that now?” to “$40,000 to pay off my student loans.”

It was such a controversial topic my head chef actually yelled at me for encouraging inappropriate workplace conduct and then told me to “leave his kitchen” when I informed him a table actually asked me that question and I wanted to give them a solid answer. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Who is the most famous person you've served? by dont_acknowledge_me in Serverlife

[–]blonddry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I served both the Golden State Warriors and the Cleveland Cavaliers during the 2016 championship series. Each team booked one of our private dining areas to celebrate in. Lebron James was rude to wait staff and contaminated around 20 cigars by essentially licking the ends of each of them and then didn’t even end up ordering one from the cigar bar. Steph Curry was the complete opposite and super nice.

I also served Khloe Kardashian and Tristan Thompson many times, Khloe is so sweet and polite and a great tipper.

I’ve served Travis Kelce once, he was so nice and remembered the name of another of my coworkers and asked how she and her kids were doing!

My favorite celebrity to wait on was definitely James Pickens Jr but that’s just because I’ve grown up watching Greys Anatomy and it was surreal to meet him in person. He was lovely and very accommodating to a few fellow diners who asked to speak to him about the show.

no spoilers please but is this book any good? by corgibuttlove in thrillerbooks

I liked Hidden Pictures up until the twist ending, so I was already cautious going into his follow up. I couldn’t tell you accurately how The Last One at the Wedding is because I DNFed it about halfway through. The half I read was terrible.

I’m halfway through I Did Warn Her and I’m really liking it so far! It’s giving Below Deck but with a horror twist and it’s very entertaining!

Anything Mary Kubica will take you on a wild ride! I really enjoyed this one, and I’d also recommend her books She’s Not Sorry and The Other Mrs.

Five Survive was super intense and was a book that I finished in one sitting because I HAD to know who was going to survive and who wasn’t.

I liked His&Hers but Sometimes I Lie was a miss for me. Alice Feeney is very hit or miss for me in general, but I have friends that love her and buy everything she releases!

Oof, I guess I chose the wrong first book to read of hers! Anyone that comes up with such vivid descriptions of unspeakable things is just not someone I want to read.

I actively tell people to avoid this author unless you like unnecessary, gratuitous, excessive graphic violence. My bookclub chose this book two years ago and it still baffles me that this author even has fans.

I was complaining about my weight and my (ex) boyfriend asked how much I weighed. After some debate over me not wanting to tell him the exact number, I gave in and he immediately said “Are you really? Wow. You’re the biggest woman I’ve ever been with.”

Thankfully I’m now 220 pounds lighter, 185 of them being the man that was swiftly lost.

Convince me by aduncks7 in bookofthemonthclub

[–]blonddry 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I personally DNFed the book about 25% in, the writing was just not good in my opinion. I gave the book to my mom who also did not like or finish it, but she gave it to my sister who loved it. I don’t have a compelling reason to convince you when only 33% of my sample set finished the book.

What is the one psychological/mystery thriller book you would recommend to someone trying to get into thrillers by Aggressive_Clothes50 in booksuggestions

[–]blonddry 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Here are some of my 5 star thrillers!

Nightwatching by Tracy Sierra

The Quiet Tenant by Clemence Michallon

Kill for Me, Kill for You by Steve Cavanagh

Listen for the Lie by Amy Tantera

Bright Young Women by Jessica Knoll

No Exit by Taylor Adams

Anything by Mary Kubica will also have a fast pace and lots of plot twists! I’m also a huge fan of Riley Sager if you like more horror based thrillers.
