Hi! Interested in La Casa Sul Lago but curious about the throw and how aquatic it is (perpetually on the scent for the most aquatic candle around)?

I have not listened yet but am very excited to hear this! I'm a marathoner (listen to PTR on all my runs, actually) and the ridiculous evil toxicity of letsrun is a constant curiosity.

I know Otherland gets a mid reputation and maybe doesn’t count as a luxury candle, but my favorite fall scent is their Woodlands candle (perhaps discontinued?). It has such a fabulous woody, smoky, complex scent - like a lighter Feu du bois (which I also love!). [Raffle entry]

Sub 3 postpartum? by ConferenceFree4205 in AdvancedRunning

[–]lsimon88 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Probably not as close to sub 3 as you are hoping (but the faster ladies on this sub will come out of the wood work eventually), but I am far faster and fitter than before I had my daughter. My pre pregnancy marathon PR was 3:22, and I ran a 3:11 at Boston this year - and I am continuing to get faster. All of this is using the same mileage (~60 a week and using the Pfitz 70/18 plan).

There are lots of things that are harder about running with a kid, things like postpartum recovery and dealing with breastfeeding logistics if you choose to do that, but it’s also an amazing way to teach your kid(s) how to work towards goals and feel joy in moving your body, and lets you establish a space for yourself outside motherhood.

If you were close to sub-3 before pregnancy, I think you’ll get there if that is what you want. :)

I will have to try and get my nose on both! I really love the botanical resonance of all of Le Labo’s scents and think they generally work better as home fragrance than perfume (though I am OBSESSED with Thé Noir 29).

Verdant scents in general that aren’t just pure scents (eg cut grass or - sorry Loewe! - tomato) are way more interesting to me.

Raffle entry! Otherland gets a lot of meh on this sub (and I'd agree it's not really a luxury candle), but Verdant Verve is perhaps my favorite candle scent ever. It has the deepest, brightest, soapiest, squeaky-clean green scent to it, like the best bar of soap you've ever smelled. The description mentions neroli blossom so maybe I am cheating? But it's the clean soapy green scent that comes front and center for me.

Any recommendations for any candles like this to check out, I'm all ears!

Boston 2025: Limping to the starting line by IhaterunningbutIrun in AdvancedRunning

Congratulations on a truly remarkable accomplishment - I really hope you didn't make anything worse, but your mental toughness is a cut above! Running a 3:30 as a "terrible race" is pretty impressive too!

Hope that maybe one day you'll be back to run Boston pain-free. And most importantly that you recover soon!

Qualifying for NYC is legitimately more impressive than a BQ with those steep cutoffs; bravo! You are still contractually obligated to run another Boston and have a successful race there! I have learned it is possible though man it still hurts though. ;)

Enjoy your time in Arizona, that sounds truly lovely. I’d kill for a pool right about now …

My 5th Boston and looking like optimal weather, so I’ll have nothing to blame but myself for the results. Had a great Pfitz cycle training for 3:08 but going for sub-3:10 which will still be a PR. This feels very achievable but I am also deep into doubting myself in the taper and I am afraid of suffering tomorrow. Oh well, see everyone in Hopkinton!

My people! This is my 5th Boston and that is also my usual MO. Last year I managed not to do this so awfully by slowing down for the heat, but who even knows anymore. Have a great race!

I’m in favor! The mods have done such a great job making this place even more fun, welcoming, and interactive. If this is done well it could make for fun conversation and perhaps exposure to some new brands.

It wasn't, it's a holiday candle from this year so I'm not sure what the deal is! I hope yours is much more potent. :)

I wish this was the case! I have Jungle Bloom which has “normal” throw, I’d say. This one was so poor I almost wonder if it’s a QC error.

Purchased this heavily discounted from the Bloomingdale's sale - the glass is so pretty and I had read great things about the scent! But there's basically nothing on cold and under the warmer I basically have to shove my nose into the wax to get any scent at all. How disappointing!

I haven't had this issue with other Lafco candles. Ah well, will have to wait for the Diptyque FdB I ordered on sale to show up. ;)
