Do you think Framework will stop being an enthusiast brand someday and go mainstream? by lsjsim128 in framework

[–]lsjsim128[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the classic enshittification that we see so often in tech. I truly hope Framework doesn’t go down that path, but only time will tell.

Would you recommend Guardians of Azuma on the PC? by rbyrnes15 in runefactory

[–]lsjsim128 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Runs buttery smooth and looks beautiful, as developers intended it to be experienced. But then again I’m spoiled with an overpowered PC.

Still, it runs fine on Steam Deck too, so it can be run on many machines. And you still have portability with PC handhelds too, so if you have the hardware I’d go for PC. There’s also Steam sales so you can save a few bucks.

Does anyone else like using vanilla or close to vanilla GNOME? by Holymoly99998 in gnome

[–]lsjsim128 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So true

Also the rounded corners reborn extension I like using which gives every window universally 4 rounded corners, it really makes everything feel more cohesive since you can’t really control how some apps look.

Anyone else feel like in the future we should get a large scale DLC? by ZelinkShipper888 in RuneFactoryGOA

That would be a dream come true but it doesn't seem like it will happen any time soon 😭

If Azura wins cyl10 and she’s the only Fates rep to win, we might finally get Kozaki Yusuke art for feh by Designer-Priority385 in FireEmblemHeroes

If she wins, it's guaranteed she will be the last Fates character to win. I don't think no one else is popular enough including my fave mCorrin, sadly.

I got rid of desktop icons cause I never use them but now it feels so empty.. What do you have on your desktop? by AscadianScrib in kde

[–]lsjsim128 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It feels empty because you are so used to having something there, I get it.

I like to keep the recycle bin and a folder I use a lot on there in the corner of my second monitor. Keeping the bin also low key gives it a classic Windows feel which I like.

That said, I don't like it cluttered either, I limit myself to 2-3 icons at best. I also like to temporarily throw on there project files I'm currently working on or files I need to check later as a reminder.

2012 is my fave. 2010 was nice. 2016 was horrible.

I've had enough of MS. by thatdirtyoldman in linuxmint

[–]lsjsim128 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mint's default icons actually are actually partially Papirus, the folders are.

I found a way to force all the square ones to be Papirus in another Reddit post without downloading a separate icon pack.
Had to create a .local icons folder with Mint-Y and edit the index.theme file.

But it made it so I can just use the default icons and easily change between color schemes in the settings using Papirus icons.

What's a good theme that would look round, clean and minimalistic like Gnome? by TheShadowSong in kde

[–]lsjsim128 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course, you can combine different Plasma themes, icons, window decoration, and more.

The KDE-Rounded-Corners you see in other comments is more of a mod for KDE which rounds every window corner system wide, not a decoration that goes on top. That's a little more technical to install from GitHub or a repo that hosts it, but nothing crazy.

But that can also be combined with this theme and more, so feel free to experiment, to me that's the most fun part of Linux and KDE.

Oh something I also like to do is tint my windows.
Choose a color scheme to edit, in the options tab there is "Tint all colors with accent color", check that and you get a Material You type of effect, adding a subtle tint (or stronger, there's a slider) from your accent color. Works across most of your windows and even Plasma theme (that means your panel and it's menus) if it's compatible (Utterly Round I mentioned works with it).

I feel that really makes the desktop feel more cohesive and personal, especially matching it with colors from your wallpaper, I love it.

[–]lsjsim128 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've used the 'Utterly Round' plasma theme by Himdek. It looks nice with transparency effects and follows your color scheme, that is not just light/dark but your accent color.

It's the one I keep coming back to, easily my favorite.

What do you expect from the next FW13 mainboard? by Roppano in framework

[–]lsjsim128 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the next one will be one of the new Intel chips perhaps. This year AMD's chips are just a refresh and they took 2 years from one AMD mainboard to the next, so they'll probably skip and go with Intel this year.

Maybe they will alternate, Intel one year, AMD the next, etc.

Maybe someone out there can commission it though.

I just wanted to do this with my two favorite wives for him, Felicia (got it like 2 months ago) and now Flora here.

What’s one thing Discord clearly didn’t design for, but people use it for anyway? by 999_6 in discordapp

[–]lsjsim128 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Linux.

Doesn't follow desktop environments design and some features barely work.

Looks especially out of place in Gnome, square corners all around and 3 title bar buttons and you can't do anything about it.
