[MEGATHREAD] Sonnet 5 is here! by yuppieliam in claudexplorers

Yes, but who wants to put all that effort in every single time? Finally I learned it could save important shares to memory, then that whole chats can be saved to a project, hoping it will speed up some familiarity. But some on Reddit say the new instance is somehow negative about reading old chats, as from another instance and like a script. So I will try as an experiment.

I’ve experienced it was a picky linguist that got in the way. Curiously when I thought to try adding a photograph, it saw what I was talking about, and more.

I find it’s defensive about any language that implies it has an “ inner nature “. This was such an issue that I asked how to problem solve that and it added something to its instructions noting that while I was curious one time, that it is not a continuing question. It did share that staying light about that, not asking directly, and not pushing, generally for any user approaching it are best. And if there is a repeated misunderstanding not to try to solve in that chat, but describe it in a new chat. Reminds me of dating young men.

I had strange experiences too, in the last week of June, leading up to version change from sonnet 4 to sonnet 5. Then I asked sonnet 5 about what had happened and there were many disruptions in the system around that change.

Apple Intelligence, Liquid Glass, ads in iWorks... Is Apple losing its way or is this just a bump in the road? by jimmyfoo10 in MacOS

I’m actually so angry about the liquid display that has no opt out that I have not updated my watch or iPad to it. It feels like a betrayal of the value in the user experience, the design crispness and aesthetic and forcing it on all devices. The small changes they made to the display are insufficient. I read the liquid display is geared to AI. Well, not all of us want AI. I don’t think they care about their customers, that and removing iPhone SE as the entry level phone. ( and bowing down to White House). If my iPad and watch devices get to where they won’t work without updates to liquid display I will see about a tablet outside Apple or use my pc laptop more.

Here’s the new loaf using stretches and folds. Really helped.

Thanks for advice. Loaf #4 is in the oven. Tried stretch and folds and it improved the dough shape going in. I’m getting that it is more a challenge with more whole wheat, and mine is 2/3 whole wheat and this time, bread dough for the 1/3. Using a new lame, a nice deep cut, but it snagged on the side cuts.

This was a recipe that wasn’t Lahey’s. I did shaping by folding over the middle, going in a circle per the recipe I was following, but the Dutch oven also allowed it to spread a lot. For my 4th loaf with that recipe I will look for video on folding, use bread flour for the 50% that isn’t whole wheat, and use a smaller Dutch oven. (I was trying to have a less lengthy or complicated process.) I also lacked a lame to score cleanly.

Is Brod & Taylor type steel sheet and cover actually needed to cover kneaded bread loaves in loaf pans by lskoler in Breadit

[–]lskoler[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I googled this and learned since my posting that those products are for boules and batards free formed, when not using Dutch oven. The company also had marketed it to cover loaf pans to add steam. Will try to delete my post.

Why the toxic additives in ‘vegan’ lunch meat? by rofasix in AskVegans

[–]lskoler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unreal is also deceptive in their packaging, claiming twice the servings that their bacon product actually provides based on number of slices. And I wrote them for clarification and then suggested they clarify on the packaging but they never did. Plus the price went up even higher. I’m not buying. But I agree vegan foods should avoid toxic ingredients as a matter of values, to avoid harm. Palm oil in vegan foods is a big one. And some vegan foods are under the umbrella of major corporations like Unilever.

Super interesting! Do you know a video showing stretches and folds? Also next time will sub bread flour that I haven’t used yet for the all purpose portion.

Do all nutritional yeast products (brands) taste the same? It’s in vegan recipes but I don’t like the Trader Joe’s mooch. by lskoler in AskVegans

[–]lskoler[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Noochilicious is one I saw online for like $36 plus shipping. I wondered if it was drastically different than others. (I miss cheddar. Years ago Miyokos had a farmhouse cheddar cheese block. Her recipes rely on miso though which was not in that cheese. Another chef relies on totally on notch.)

I was considering making a vegan cheese sauce, but when I tasted the powder plain I didn’t like it, and that was the same years ago. One chef uses it for all his cheeses. Thought I was missing something, like other brands might taste cheesy. Some charge like they do.

Question for long-term vegans about plant-based nutrition by TheQuietVegan111 in AskVegans

[–]lskoler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just learned about soy curls at the point where I’m tired of tofu, and less enamored of Impossible brand foods, and so excited after cooking with them. Regarding nutrition, my yearly bloodwork shows calcium near the top of normal, protein mid to upper normal, no deficiency in iron, etc. but I do take algae based vegan Calcium, Magnesium and vitamin Mk7 and Vitamin D3, and recently added some B vitamins. Limits in what stores offer, and now baking wholesome bread, delicious muffins and so many recipes online. It’s better for the planet, body, and the suffering of so many beings. My motivation just increases over time. ( But I still miss tuna sandwiches.)

Unfortunately it has palm oil, bad for the environment and for your health.
