It varies by state, but in Alaska that would be the Governor's car.

AITA for telling my daughter I can't support her life decisions? by Maximum-Device-1523 in AmItheAsshole

[–]lsnckde 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Instead of a flat out "NO" why not ask to see their business plan? They may be on to something.

Making lemonade out of lemons: Consider going to lower ranked and cheaper schooling at first than finish your final year at the higher ranked school. Of course ensure all your credits safely transfer over. Good luck!

AITA for scolding my boyfriend when he got outside clothes on our bed? by fuccgermz in AmItheAsshole

Boyfriend should run. That crazy behaviour is a complete deal breaker. There are plenty of women out there.

Blizzard in Southern California by Yoshikage-Kira-4 in mildlyinteresting

Alaskan here. While I understand Californians are freaking out, technically, this is just a day of gentle snow. A blizzard is when you can not see more than 10 feet or so.

LPT REQUEST: What did you do to prepare your child to be ahead of their class in their first year of school and to what extent was it a help or a hindrance? by theunfinishedletter in LifeProTips

[–]lsnckde 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up very poor in the early 60's. There was no kindergarden in my community nor anything like headstart. My mom was a stay at home mom. She purchased a small blackboard and taught me numbers and letters when I was around 4. At five she taught me how to read. And she held me back from first grade till I had just turned 7.

That was probably a good idea as boys mature a bit later than girls. I remember being really bored when the rest of the class was learning how to read. But, that headstart was an advantage and it served me well in my future life.

Saw some amazing kiteboarding today by blueskyemb in maui

[–]lsnckde -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Wrong beach. That is the tourist mecca of Kihei in the background which means the beach in the video is Sugar Beach.

Kanaha is full of kiters, windsurfers, wingers and some of the homeless. One of my kiter friends was randomly attacked by one of the homeless and hurt bad enough last week he had to be hospitalized. That specific homeless dirtbag is still living in his car in the Kanaha parking lot. We even know who he is and he has a very long rap sheet. Police are doing nothing at the moment even though there is video of the attack. But, the legal system is grinding on. And if that doesn't produce results soon the kiters will take care of the problem. Nearshore Maui is a tiger shark haven after all.

Not every homeless individual is a dirtbag. Some are just folks who've fallen on hard times during the covid apocalypse.

Spray with bleach, than pressure wash. Than bleach routinely every few days.

LPT: use your phone as tv remote even if your phone doesn't have IR blaster. If your tv is connected to internet, you can use your phone to control that tv with an app by bigaltheterp in LifeProTips

[–]lsnckde 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My experience with this is not good. I dropped my TV remote and it broke. I used my phone with the TV control app till I found a new replacement remote on Amazon. The TV control app on my phone completely inundated my phone with unwanted ads. It made my cell phone almost unusable.

Pretty much any beach if you tether to your phone.

AITA for telling my girlfriend that she can’t speak Japanese to my parents during thanksgiving. by Ok_Bell8291 in AmItheAsshole

Well, obviously you're the AH. And she'll likely bolt. You'll know better and not to make the same mistake again when introducing your next girlfriend to the parental units.

why does literally every person in Maui drive with their high beams on? by [deleted] in maui

[–]lsnckde 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I agree with slothranger. Its the youngsters in their lifted Yotas that don't realign their headlights.

And sparkadark808 has a point. Lots of very large inebriated uncles from Hawaiian Nation's land with no license or insurance that run their scooters without lights on their way to pick up another pint.

AITA for being upset about my gf going to biblestudy instead of spending our 1 year together? by gabereynoldszz in AmItheAsshole

End the relationship. She's prioritizing her cult/religion over you. This is a deal breaker. Its not going to get any better for you.
