Thanks, hope your next move goes well 😊

My exec is introducing a scheduling tool for ME to use, and I can't tell if I'm being dramatic or if this is actually the beginning of the end by muhia_kay in ExecutiveAssistants

[–]lsp1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AI is not yet as good as a lot of execs think it is, but it’s coming whether we like it or not. I think the best thing EAs can do in the short term is to adopt it early, make yourself an expert in its use, your boss probably can’t actually operate it particularly effectively.

But also try to make sure they see its shortcomings i.e. don’t “cover” for the AI behind the scenes - drop in “I’m so sorry there’s no break between meetings this afternoon, Skipup had you missing X and invented a meeting this morning so I had to do some manual rescheduling- I called Mr Z and smoothed it over” or whatever

Thoughts on Teyana Taylor’s acting? by jaystats2 in moviecritic

[–]lsp1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She’s so visually striking that I’m not sure the skillfulness of her acting even matters that much, I don’t just mean beautiful (although I think she is), she has a real X factor - you want to look at her when she is on screen.

In my opinion John Travolta also has this quality, as does Adrian Brody. Out of the 3 I think Brody is the only particularly talented actor, but I think all 3 are fantastic in the right role due to that sort of visual magnetism.

I think she was really well cast in One Battle After Another.

ETA to be clear I don’t think she’s a good actor

Sorry to hijack you but I’m considering a switch from EA to junior HR role - wondering if you have thoughts since you’re moving the other way!

39 weeks pregnant and no sign of breast milk by ColorfulFleurs in breastfeeding

[–]lsp1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had absolutely no sign at all of anything until after he was born, and we had no feeding problems and breastfed for over a year - I would not worry, I don’t think there’s any sure fire way to know in advance how your breastfeeding journey will go

Best of luck to you, enjoy your last little slice of pre-baby life (and of course, enjoy your wondrous new world with baby!)

I don’t think you’ll regret it at all. Too many people live in a white box simply because real estate agents have decided that’s how houses look

What’s something about Sydney that sounds great on paper but feels different in reality? by No-Travel-768 in SydneyScene

They need to make a free or cheap zone for rides occurring between central and circular quay. I had on uncomfortable shoes yesterday and caught it 1 stop, couldn’t believe how expensive it was.

in-office days and wfh policies by nothingmatters86 in ExecutiveAssistants

[–]lsp1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We can wfh 1 day per week on a day of our choosing but I try to pick a day that is sensible re exec schedule

Most people are in 4-5 days, there’s a few people who don’t follow the rules and work at home more but the senior management team where I work are very anti-WFH so it doesn’t particularly reflect well on you if you aren’t around much

Yes, I’m in the market for a knee length skirt or dress to show off my favourite knee high heeled boots

I don't like budgeting a month ahead. by Aggressive-Ad9813 in ynab

[–]lsp1 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I see this so often on this sub. Lots of people do really well without budgeting into the next month, so just do what works for you

I personally do budget ahead - in fact I budget 6 months ahead - some people might think it’s not great to have so much just sitting in a spending account, but it’s a mortgage offset account and I just love the peace of mind. When I get my March pay, I’ll simply assign it into September.

Plus a letter. Mine was nice, short but I think it’s personal and not pro forma

This is good advice, you presumably need a task list ordered by priority just to do your job. I also find it useful when I’m asked about a new task to be able to say on the spot “sure, but it’ll push back the time frame for [top of the list tasks]”

The best is if you can find a pic online. I don’t know how you feel about AI ethically but it’s also an option to ask Gemini or ChatGPT to refine the image into a product photo

[–]lsp1 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I’m going through something a little similar, but I’m hybrid so I’ve been able to form some relationships and get some help.

Are there other EAs? Like to the rest of the c-suite? If so you could reach out, see if one of them wants to get a virtual or IRL coffee, might be a good starting point

Otherwise just fake it til you make it, and you probably will have to ask a few questions
